New Deathly Hallows Set Report with Interviews
Posted by Megs

The Philippine Daily Inquirer has posted a sample from their upcoming set report for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  In the preview we hear from Rupert Grint, Robbie Coltrane, Tom Felton and David Barron.

Rupert Grint wasn’t needed on the set, but he graciously came to talk to us. The actor who plays Ron Weasley shared his feelings as the blockbuster franchise ends […]: “It’s a weird feeling. I’ve spent half of my life doing these movies. It’s quite emotional. But, at the same time, I’m looking forward to the freedom to do other films.” The red-haired actor, more talkative now than when we first met him several years ago, also talked about his much-awaited kissing scene with Emma Watson (Hermione Granger). Saying he was nervous since he has known Emma as a friend for 10 years, Rupert revealed that it was hard to concentrate. “The first take was quite hard,” said Rupert, who recalled that they did four takes of the smooch, which many “Harry Potter” fans around the world can’t wait to see.

Like Rupert, who had scenes with a boy actor who plays his child (“The kid looks just like me!”), Tom Felton also acted with a youngster who portrays his offspring. “It was bizarre, nerve-wracking and poignant at the same time, because it reminded me of how I began,” pointed out Tom, who is as nice in person as he is evil as Draco Malfoy.

Blessed with a winking sense of humor, Robbie said that while it takes many hours to put on all that hair, “two young ladies” come with oil to help him take off all that expensive wig and makeup at the end of the day. “Somebody has to do it,” Robbie said with a smile, as he played with his mile-long beard.

Co-producer David Barron disclosed that no decision has yet been made as to where the much-anticipated movies will be split into two parts. “There are three sensible places where we can do the split,” he shared.

Robbie Talks Potter
Posted by Megs

In a new interview with the Daily Record Robbie Coltrane talks about the Potter series.  Robbie plays the lovable Hagrid in the movies.

“I regret the ending of Harry Potter for the obvious reasons of saying goodbye to a bunch of people with whom I’ve become very friendly over the years, but also because I will be giving up a regular income. You don’t get too much of that in the world of acting.”

The 59-year-old is equally worried for his young Potter co-stars. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grinch, as well as a host of other actors, have grown up on the sets of the film adaptations of JK Rowlings books.

Rutherglen-born Robbie says: “For them the conclusion of the films will be like leaving school, saying goodbye to friends and going out into the big, wide world.  It’s a huge step and it wouldn’t be surprising if some of them, at least, felt nervous about making it.”

HBP Premiere info and more!

Belgium’s Jommeke newspaper visited the Half-Blood Prince set early last year, where they spoke to Jim Broadbent (Slughorn) and Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), and watched a scene being filmed for the sixth movie.   You can see scans here.

• The Belgium premiere for Half-Blood Prince will take place on Saturday, July 11, which Bonnie Wright and Evanna Lynch will be attending.

• Although not confirmed yet, it appears that Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will only attend the UK premiere for the sixth movie (on July 7th), and no other because of their busy Deathly Hallows film schedule. [THIS IS FALSE, all three will be at the NYC premiere, thanks Jo]

• Jim Broadbent talks about how pleased his grandchildren are that he has taken a role in the Harry Potter films, playing Slughorn. He discusses his character, stating that he is not really bad, just a weak person. Slughorn has a wall of photos with himself and celebrated students; the Potions professor also finds it a treat to teach the famous Harry Potter.

• Robbie Coltrane jokes about his three young co-stars, Dan, Rupert and Emma, where he proudly states that fame and fortune has not go to their head, and that they don’t believe they are any better than anyone else on set.

• The tour guide, Amy, explains how Quidditch in the sixth film will be bigger than it previously has been; she also shows the reporters around Dumbledore’s office and tells them that the famed Astronomy Tower scene took place a week before their arrival.

• The reporters describe the scene they are privileged to watch, which includes Dan, Rupert and Emma, heavily layered in clothing as they walk down a snowy path to Hagrid. Emma and Dan point out the mistakes they make during their takes, of which there are nine before the scene is complete. Between takes, however, Dan and Rupert are noted to throw off their coats as the set is hot, and are eager to go back to Rupert’s dressing room and play a game of ping pong. A comment from Dan is published at the end, where he says that filming can get tiring, and that it will be strange to no longer play Harry after Deathly Hallows has completed.

Thanks SS!

New Robbie Interview
Posted by Megs

There is a new interview with Robbie Coltrane, who plays Hagrid in the Harry Potter films.

Each Harry Potter film seems to get bigger and bigger.

They were always written as another year in the children’s lives and they’re 17 now of course. So life has changed for them.

Romance is in the air. The threats get more and more threatening as his powers and knowledge and all of their powers and magic get stronger. They have to up the anti. The books are like that, that’s the way they’re written.

Thanks SS.
