Butterbeer Season coming to Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal has announced a brand new event to celebrate everyone’s favorite wizarding drink – Butterbeer. While this reporter is not a butterbeer fan (Otter’s Fizzy Orange Juice is superior!) she knows many who will be excited about this news. Especially ice cream lovers who frequent Universal Studios Hollywood. Read the full press release below:

For the first time ever, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood will celebrate Butterbeer™ Season, offering fans and guests a chance to enjoy Butterbeer in all-new ways within “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,™” beginning March 15 and continuing through April 30, 2024.

The celebration also marks the introduction of Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream counter within “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Studios Hollywood. Opening on Friday, March 29, the all-new venue, located in Honeydukes™, will feature 10 decadent and savory soft serve ice cream flavors, including Butterbeer, Banana, Chocolate, Mint, Orange, Vanilla, Toffee Nut, Granny Smith Apple, Pistachio and Toffee Apple, served in a cup or waffle cone.

With a flavor reminiscent of butterscotch and shortbread, Butterbeer is a perfectly fine-tuned Wizarding World treat that includes cold, frozen, hot and non-dairy Butterbeer beverages along with Butterbeer fudge, potted cream and ice cream.

Throughout Butterbeer Season, both destinations will roll out delectable treats, including an ice lolly which features the rich palate pleasing Butterbeer flavor in popsicle form, in addition to the traditional items served daily. Plus, new Butterbeer caramels will only be available at Universal Orlando Resort. For a limited time only during this festive period, cold and frozen Butterbeer will be available for purchase in a special collectible silver stein.

Those who wish to plan trips to Universal Orlando Resort should note there is currently a ticket deal going on! If you purchase a 2 day ticket you get 2 days free. The 2-Park Play 4 Days Promotional Ticket is valid for visits through December 18, 2024. Additionally, if you buy an annual pass now through September 27th, you will get 3 more months free!

Universal Releases New “Epic Universe” Details Including Immersive Harry Potter World

Universal Orlando Resort has released a teaser video for their highly anticipated new park, Epic Universe. In the video we get our first look at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, one of five immersive worlds based around different themes. Epic Universe is slated to open in 2025!

“Guests will discover a different era of the wizarding world in an all-new land that blends 1920s wizarding Paris from Warner Bros. Pictures’ Fantastic Beasts films with the iconic British Ministry of Magic from the Harry Potter series”

The other worlds include “Celestial Park,” the gateway to explore the four additional worlds, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk and Dark Universe (featuring some of the world’s favorite monsters!)

“House of MinaLima” Pop-Up Store Opens at Universal CityWalk at Universal Orlando Resort

Fans of the Harry Potter films are in for a special treat if they are in or visiting the Orlando area. A special pop-up shop featuring Studio MinaLima – the artists behind the graphic props of the Harry Potter (and Fantastic Beasts) films is now open at the Universal Studios Store in Universal CityWalk.

Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima designed many iconic film props such as the Hogwarts Acceptance Letter, The Marauder’s Map, The Daily Prophet and the Black Family Tapestry. 

This limited-time experience will allow Wizarding World fans to shop a variety of authentic, MinaLima-designed magical keepsakes such as prints, journals, stationery, home décor, accessories and more. House of MinaLima shops have delighted fans around the globe with its flagship headquarters in London, UK and pop-up stores in Osaka, Tokyo, Seoul, Paris and New York City before its highly-anticipated stop at Universal Orlando Resort.

Death Eaters to Roam Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando Resort

Previous guess of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort will remember that during the spooky season Death Eaters would come out at Hogsmeade in the evenings to duel with guests and ask fellow believers to join them. This year they will be lurking about in Diagon Alley.

According to the press release from Universal:

An ominous presence returns to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort this fall as Death Eaters appear for the first time ever in Diagon Alley select dates September 1 through November 4. 

A sinister energy will fill the air in Diagon Alley as guests encounter the villainous Death Eaters – devoted followers of Lord Voldemort who do not shy away from the practice of the Dark Arts. This interactive live entertainment experience puts guests face-to-face with these fanatic witches and wizards as they roam through London, lurk their way through the cobbled streets of Knockturn Alley, and challenge guests to join the Dark Lord. 

Also, while visiting Diagon Alley, guests can shop for a variety of Death Eater-themed merchandise to embrace their sinister side.

Universal Parks Announce 13 New Interactive Wands to be Sold at Ollivanders

Universal Parks and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter have announced that 12 new Interactive Wands will be available for purchase at their theme parks around the world. There is also a 13th wand exclusive to each park!

A brand-new collection of authentic, interactive Ollivanders wands has arrived at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal theme parks around the globe, bringing 12 all-new wands  – plus an additional one that is exclusive to each destination – to Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Japan and Universal Beijing Resort. 

Each original wand within the new assortment pairs a wood type with one of the three powerful cores preferred by master wandmaker Garrick Ollivander from the Harry Potter film series – unicorn hair, dragon heartstring and phoenix feather – and comes with a first-ever “wand lore” insert that details the distinct properties of that specific wand and the attributes of its ideal owner. Guests can also use the new wands to cast spells and reveal magical surprises with the right incantation and a gentle flick of the wrist at select locations within the spectacularly themed lands.

The new collection also brings a unique wand to each Universal park that is exclusive to that destination and not available anywhere else, including:

“Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” Returns to Universal Orlando Resort

Universal has announced the return of a fan favorite event to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. On select nights September 16 through October 31, guests will encounter Death Eaters in the streets of Hogsmeade and watch as a powerful dark spell is cast on Hogwarts castle – highlighting unspeakable creatures and sinister villains from the Wizarding World. It’s truly an amazing experience seeing the Death Eaters come out to play, we’ve experienced it a few times and it never disappoints.

The darker side of magic comes to life this fall in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal Orlando Resort with the return of Death Eaters and the breathtaking experience “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” – a sinister spectacle of state-of-the-art projection mapping, special effects, lighting and more that brings awe-inspiring moments and creatures from the Harry Potter films to life on the majestic Hogwarts castle. “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” will run select nights September 16 through October 31 from dusk until park close in Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

As darkness falls, an ominous presence will fill the land as the Dark Arts begin to take over the streets of Hogsmeade and cloak the stone walls of Hogwarts castle. Guests will come face-to-face with Death Eaters – devoted followers of Lord Voldemort known for their allegiance and practice of the Dark Arts – as they appear and eerily roam and lurk throughout Hogsmeade. Then, guests will watch as “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” unleashes the unspeakable creatures and sinister villains of the Wizarding World – including Dementors, Mountain Trolls and even a visage of Lord Voldemort – on Hogwarts castle until a Patronus – the result of a powerful defense charm of concentrated happiness and hope – is produced. 

Guests can also shop new Dark Arts-themed merchandise featuring the Dark Mark during their visit to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, including mugs, hats, lanyards, tees – and even a Death Eater mask.
