James & Oliver Phelps ‘Fantastic Friends’ Coming to HBO Max
Posted by Megs

Fans who follow James and Oliver Phelps on social media will know they have been filming a travel show (sometimes with special Potter guests!) together. Fantastic Friends is a 6-part series with each episode clocking in at 1 hour in length. Producer Daniel Sharp has shared that the show was picked up by a few stations including HBO Max!

James and Oliver Phelps enchanted audiences worldwide as mischievous but loveable twins Fred and George Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise. After ten years as part of one of the most iconic film casts in history, James and Oliver have continued to capture the world’s imagination, travelling the globe on magical adventures.

The show will begin airing on HBO Max in July (date TBD,) Bell Media’s Crave in Canada on June 17 and on TVNZ in New Zealand on August 6. The brothers are joined by Evanna Lynch, Bonnie Wright, Luke Youngblood, Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Sophie Skelton (Outlander) and Haley Joel Osment.

According to RapidTVNews, Dash Pictures is in production on a second six-part series of Fantastic Friends.

The episode breakdown is as follows:

St Lucia
Maisie Williams played Arya Stark in the epic fantasy drama Game of Thrones. In this episode, James and Oliver Phelps gate-crash Maisie’s relaxing holiday on the stunning Caribbean island of Saint Lucia; expect swimming and sailing challenges, stunning views, heroic hikes, plenty of rum, and a chocolate massage.

Iceland
Bonnie Wright played Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter movies and is now a writer, director and advocate for the environment. In this episode, James and Oliver Phelps track Bonnie down to the eco-haven of Iceland; hanging out with whales, exploring incredible caves, riding tiny horses, talking all-things Harry Potter, and trekking up an active volcano!

Dubai
Luke Youngblood played Quiddich commentator Lee Jordan, the Weasley twins’ best friend in the Harry Potter movies. In this episode, James and Oliver Phelps magicked Luke to the desert oasis of Dubai; where they’ll play with jetpacks, go deep diving, reminisce about Harry Potter, race speedboats and play an epic round of golf – the loser gets the bill!

Poland
Sophie Skelton plays Brianna MacKenzie in the hit fantasy series Outlander. In this episode, James and Oliver Phelps interrupt Sophie’s chilled weekend getaway to Krakow in Poland; taking her to the Tatra mountains in search of adventure, river rafting, treacherous treks and the chance to explore an active salt mine.

Austria
Haley Joel Osment is an Oscar nominated acting superstar, known for his turns in The Sixth Sense, A.I. and Forrest Gump. In this episode, James and Oliver Phelps find Hayley visiting the Austrian town of Innsbruck; they lure him into the mountains to discuss child stardom and enjoy an exciting cocktail of ski-based challenges, bone-rattling bobsledding, beer and… witchcraft. Yes, witchcraft.

Ireland
In the space of two weeks, Evanna Lynch went from being a Harry Potter superfan to lighting up the film’s cast as whimsical teen-witch Luna Lovegood. In this episode, James and Oliver Phelps catch a “private” flight to Ireland to catch up with writer-actor-activist Evanna; the twins join her father and the rest of the Lynch clan in the Irish countryside for hurling, dancing, discussion of the Harry Potter movies, and a date with the spirits.

Giveaway: The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting by Evanna Lynch
Posted by Megs

Evanna Lynch is launching her memoir titled The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting: The Tragedy and The Glory of Growing Up; A Memoir this autumn and we’re giving you the chance to be one of THE first people to read it! Evanna is best known for playing Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series and for her beauty box – Kinder Beauty. The book will be released on October 14th in the UK and October 19th in the US. Today we’re giving UK fans the chance to win an early copy of the book as well as a few other goodies!

The raw and compelling new memoir from actress and activist Evanna Lynch about the messiness of adulthood, growing up in the spotlight, and her battle between perfection and creativity.

Evanna Lynch has long been viewed as a role model for people recovering from anorexia and the story of her casting as Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films has reached almost mythic proportions. Yet even after recovery, there remains a conflict at the very core of her being: a bitter struggle between the pursuit of perfection, and the desire to fully and fearlessly embrace her creativity.

In her memoir, Evanna confronts all the complexities and contradictions within herself and reveals how she overcame a life-threatening eating disorder, began to conquer her self-hate and confronted her fear of leaving the neatness and safety of girlhood for the unpredictable journey of being a woman.

This is a story of the tragedy and the glory of growing up, of mourning girlhood and stepping into the unknown, and how that act of courage is the most creatively liberating thing a woman can do.

We will be giving away five copies of the book along with a gorgeous butterfly inspired goodie pack! In order to enter you will need to quote retweet one of our giveaway announcements on Twitter (here or here) with the hashtag #ButterflyHunting or share the image of the book cover at the top of this post on your (public) Twitter. You can also tag us “@MM_Official” if you’d like to help us keep track of entries! The giveaway is open to residents of UK only and will end on September 1st.

Evanna Lynch’s ‘My Name is Emily’ Available on VOD; New Interview with Bonnie Wright
Posted by Megs

As we’ve reported in the past, Evanna Lynch stars in My Name Is Emily, a beautifully moving film about growing up, first love, and loss. The film is now available on VOD and can be purchased from iTunes! You can also see the film in select theaters.

Emily has been living in a foster home ever since her father was institutionalized after her mother’s death. Still, she keeps in touch with him through the birthday cards he sends her every year. As Emily starts at a new school, she catches the attention of her shy classmate Arden. When her father doesn’t send a birthday card on her 16th birthday, Emily decides to take matters into her own hands. Enlisting Arden’s help, she runs away, and the pair set out on a road trip to break her father out of the psych ward. As their journey progresses, Emily and Arden must depend on each other as they learn about life, love, loss, and letting go.

Bonnie Wright spoke to Evanna for Interview Magazine and they discussed the film as well as Evanna’s career choices up to this point. Read a quick snippet below.

WRIGHT: […] what non-negotiable things did you set yourself as an actor choosing material? For instance, with My Name is Emily, what was it within the script that stood out compared to maybe some other things you’d been reading that seemed a bit two-dimensional?

LYNCH: Maybe I am a lazy actor. [laughs] Maybe it is still the writing. Simon [Fitzmaurice]’s writing is so beautiful. It was so poetic and thought-provoking. I think there are a lot of writers that can get away with not being gifted with words. I’ve done a few writing classes in L.A. and they are very focused on the plot and the structure and all that.

Cast Attending Wizarding World Hollywood Grand Opening Revealed
Posted by Megs

Pottermore has revealed some of the cast and crew from the Potter films that will be attending a Red Carpet Gala opening for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood on April 5th.  Warwick Davis, Tom Felton, Evanna Lynch, James Phelps and Oliver Phelps along with composer John Williams will attend the Grand Opening event.

The attraction has been five years in the making, and features a stunning recreation of Hogwarts castle as well as Hogsmeade village.

Following in the footsteps of Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Japan, the Hollywood attraction will bring back some of the fans’ favourite rides, as well as a few new surprises.

The park officially opens on April 7th but is currently doing “soft openings” where fans can visit the park with limited rides and stores open.  Here’s a quick definition of a soft opening for those of you unfamiliar:

A soft opening is usually a less strenuous opening for the ride or attraction. It might not open at park open or might close before park close. It may open and close periodically throughout the day for minor adjustments or to run routine safety checks, although usually these closures are “soft” closures – they don’t clear the queue, they just cycle and empty cycle or stop the ride after everyone’s off for a moment or two. There may be private events, training or staffing requirements, repairs, media, or inspections that require the attraction be closed an entire day or more during this time. Certain effects or features might not be working yet.
