David Heyman talks HP
Posted by Megs

David Heyman, the producer of the Potter films, recently discussed Harry Potter at a film premiere.

Producer David Heyman was on hand and talked about diversifying his film interests as the end of his Harry Potter era draws near: “This is the last Harry Potter and I want to enjoy it because it has been a unique experience and I’ll never have anything like it in my life again. This is the last journey and I really want to treasure that, so I’m not going to be running off, I want to focus on that. But the end is nigh for Potter, sometime in June 2011, and it will be a mixed feeling because security, this family, this great group I’ve worked with and this material I’ve worked on will be coming to an end. It’s a rather scary prospect of being unemployed, and having to find my next gig looms large. But I’m looking forward to having the time to spend on new projects in a way not interrupted by Potter.”

New Article About Potter
Posted by Megs

The Baltimore Sun has a new article online and it has a bunch of fun information such as an interview with director David Yates and Steve Kloves, the screenwriter for most of the Potter films!  They talk about bringing the Potter films to life.

Screenwriter Steve Kloves, a distinguished director himself (The Fabulous Baker Boys), has been working with Yates back-to-back-to-back on Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows I and II. He says Yates’ “vast resources of patience” are good to have on Potter films, “since the books are difficult to wrestle to the screen.” But “there is something else that separates David Yates,” says Kloves. “He is willing to do the heavy lifting, to make the difficult decision when necessary – something which many directors are not willing to do.” Kloves, the adapter of all but one Potter novel (Phoenix), writes first drafts that tend “to be both wishful and practical” in his desire to retain Rowling’s details and plot twists. “Wishful in the sense that I want to get the entire book on the page and practical in the sense that I know the wishful side of me is insane.”

New Emma Watson Interview
Posted by Megs

Emma was recently interviewed by WizardUniverse and they have posted the interview. (I posted their interview with Dan earlier today)  They will also be releasing an interview with Rupert.

Do you think the fans of the book will find “Half-Blood Prince” to be a faithful adaptation?
WATSON: I hope so. I think we’ve stuck as close as we possibly can without making a ten-hour movie. We’ve never had that complaint before, and I personally am such a big fan of the books. I’ve read them each of them three or four times so I think that’s a really good focus for us.

New Dan Radcliffe Interview
Posted by Megs

Dan was recently interviewed by WizardUniverse and they have posted the interview.

This film had a mixture of both adventure and some more intimate moments. Which are your favorite scenes to play? Do you like the action or the quieter scenes?
RADCLIFFE: I think that I like the quieter scenes. There’s a lot of action but the quieter scenes will, generally speaking, be where the heart is. That’s not to say there aren’t some emotionally quite intense action sequences, but when there are just two people sitting down talking the stakes are very much higher, emotionally. My favorite scene in the film, actually, is one that I’m that not in, which is probably not that surprising because I hate watching myself. It’s with Rupert (Ron) in Quidditch practice, and it is genuine laugh-out-loud funny. And I don’t laugh out loud that easily.

Thanks MN!
