More on Emma’s People Tree Collection
Posted by Megs

Today we have a full version of an earlier photo of Emma in her People Tree Collection as well as a photo of one of her shirts! They come from an article over at Help My Style.  Click the image for a larger version:

The collection includes cosy knits, organic cotton tees, poplin skirts and shorts in fabrics such as organic and fair trade cotton. The much anticipated range gives a fresh twist on Fair Trade fashion and will debut at Arnotts Project, Jervis Centre late February 2010.

‘People Tree’ garments are made by hand by fair trade groups in Bangladesh, India and Nepal. Through this action People Tree are helping to co-ordinate and provide livelihoods for underprivileged people living in these countries.

Harry Potter Power – New Self Help Book
Posted by Megs

A new Harry Potter related book by Dr Julie-Anne Sykley will be released this coming March.  The book is called Harry Potter Power and is a “fun and friendly self-help book uses ideas/situations from Harry’s world to help people be happier, healthier, and deal with stuff like depression, anxiety, anger, and suicidal thinking.” Dr Julie has also answered a couple questions for us, sort of a mini-interview:

What first inspired you to write this book?
The “Harry Potter” books are a positive phenomenon that has enrichened people’s lives everywhere. JK Rowling’s adventures suggest many ways for us to be happier, healthier, better, and more humane people to all the world(s) around us. By revealing more psychology from “Harry Potter” and presenting the best tips and tools from the field of psychology, I wanted to “build on” Harry Potter and convince as many people as possible that everyone can find their very own Philosopher’s Stone in real life – and free their inner power.
What do you think is one of the most important lessons readers can learn from your book?
The most important thing that readers can learn from my book is that each and everyone of us (in our own unique ways, no matter how bad we think life is) already has the personal capacity to experience incredible happiness, success, and personal power – if we choose to think, do, and be positive. Just like hippogriffs do, you can follow your dreams and fly high!

You can visit the book’s mini site here to learn more and to purchase the book!  Also, here is the book’s page on Amazon, should you wish to find out when they will have it available.

[UPDATED] Alexandre Desplat to compose Deathly Hallows: Part I
Posted by Megs

Film Score Daily is reporting that French composer Alexandre Desplat will be composing the score for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.  Alexandre would be the 4th composer for the Harry Potter films, the others being John Williams, Patrick Doyle and Nicholas Hooper.

He has become the director-of-choice for many of the world’s most acclaimed directors, including Fincher, Stephen Frears, Terence Malick and Roman Polanski, and has signed for one his most challenging and highest-profile assignments yet, the penultimate entry in the Harry Potter saga.

Thanks to SS!

Update: Thanks to Mugglenet this is now confirmed!

Work at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Posted by Megs

Back in October I posted about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter holding auditions to work as actors in the theme park; those positions have been filled.  Now the park is hiring for normal jobs.  They are hiring for Foods, Merchandise, and Attractions Operations positions.

You can apply by going here and clicking on the Wizarding World of Harry Potter link at the top of the page.  Unfortunately, to get to the application you need to be using a PC, not a Mac.

Thanks to Mugglenet!
