Warwick Davis Talks Potter
Posted by Megs

In a new interview with SnitchSeeker Warwick Davis talks about Harry Potter and filming Deathly Hallows. He revealed that he believes he will still be filming Deathly Hallows around June 18th, when the theme park opens so he doesn’t know if he will be in attendance for the opening. There have been no reports on when the last days of shooting will take place. You can listen below and also read some segments.

You spent a lot of time in Pembrokeshire for the Shell Cottage scenes in Deathly Hallows. What was that like, being down in Wales?
Being down in Pembrokeshire was a bit like we were on holiday. It was an outing. I make the similarity to working on Harry Potter. It is a bit like going to school. We go back for each movie – that’s a new term. We spend our time at the school doing the shooting. And going down to Pembroke was a bit like a school trip. Then each movie that finishes – that’s the summer holidays. And we’re about to graduate, and finish, go our separate ways out into the big wide world. But Pembrokeshire, it was lovely to get out and about. It was weird being in a more public environment. We’re used to the studios. Closed doors. It’s just us.

Yes, there were a lot of photographers there.
Everywhere you looked on the sand dunes were the long lens looking at you. Big crowds gathered. We couldn’t do without it because we were right on the crest of the dune. They were trying to keep us down and covered up. But you just couldn’t do it the whole time, it was too hard. But the shell cottage was a marvelous looking set. It looked like it had been there for years. It was quite a spectacle. Sadly, they had to remove it. It would have made a nice tourist attraction. I very much enjoyed my time down there. It was actually nice in one way that it was out there, so there’s a certain amount I can then talk about. Because it is very hard. We work on Potter and it’s like working for the military. Everything’s top secret. It’s a lovely relief when the film comes out. You’re so used to not saying anything, you tend not to say anything.

Is it weird playing two characters or does it make it easier? (Question supplied via Twitter)
It is weird. I played two characters in the first Harry Potter, and contributed to a third … I was the Goblin bank teller, Flitwick and then, Griphook, I did the voice. It’s weird ‘cause you never do it straightaway … ‘cause obviously there’s a huge amount of make up involved so you can only do one per day. But it is a little bit weird to do and it’s quite fun. I don’t think anybody on the set knows what I actually really look like. I never appear as myself. I’m always somebody else. I was just trying to add up how many different characters I’ve played throughout the Potter films. You’ve got two and a bit on the first one, then I had another goblin I played on the fifth film, and the new-look Flitwick – there’s a few in there. There’s about four or five different characters.

Collectible of the Week #6
Posted by Megs

This week we have an item of clothing, that I should never have bought, but I splurged when I graduated high school. 😉 The Harry Potter School Crest Jeweled Short Sleeve Jersey by Bejeweled.

About: This t-shirt is a very special item and not many people have it.  It may look like a normal Hogwarts Crest T-shirt but actually it is much more than that.  Instead of plain black the shirt is black with bits of brown to make it look a bit aged.  It also has some brown/tan colored studs (32 to be exact), 13 gold swarovski crystals and 4 red swarovski crystals that have all been hand placed.  This shirt is far superior to any other crest shirts in my opinion just because of how the screen-printing looks.  The close-up doesn’t do it justice because I had to use my web cam instead of my real camera.

Value: The retail price of the item is $79.99, I know, I know I was CRAZY to pay that much for a t-shirt, but I LOVE it and it is still in perfect condition even though I wear it a lot.  So it is a good value for the price.  But you can still get the normal crest t-shirts and be just as awesome, so not a must buy.

Buy it: It used to be available on the WB shop but since it was a limited item it is no longer there. You may be able to find it on ebay.

Rating: 8/10 Awesome item, but a bit expensive.

Michael Gambon Talks Dumbledore
Posted by Megs

In a new interview with the Irish Times Michael Gambon talks a bit about Harry Potter and Dumbledore.

He did, however, grace the big screen in The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover , alongside his long-time friend, Helen Mirren, and in numerous other films, including Gosford Park, Dancing at Lughnasa, Sleepy Hollow and the latter six of the eight Harry Potter films, in which he took over from the late Richard Harris as Professor Albus Dumbledore. “I enjoyed it!” he says proudly of his Dumbledore days, though he admits the role may not have stretched him particularly as an actor. “There’s no character really, it’s just me! Me dressed up in a costume! I’m essentially playing myself, that’s all I’m doing.”

Still, he misses the Harry Potter films. “It’s fun laughing all the time, and I know all the other actors, I’ve known them for years. It’s like being with friends.”

JK Rowling: Sunday Times Rich List 2010
Posted by Megs

JK Rowling has made it into the Sunday Times Rich List 2010 in the Film and TV millionaires category!  She comes in at number 5 with a fortune of £519m.

Harry Potter creator Joanne Rowling – the richest author on the list, with an estimated wealth of £519m – has increased her fortune from the books with a hugely profitable film series.

Ms Rowling, who wrote the first of seven Harry Potter books when a struggling single mother in Edinburgh, enjoys a percentage of all royalties and merchandising. But unlike many top authors, she has refused to become a tax exile and still lives in Scotland.
