Daniel Radcliffe Interview in Entertainment Weekly
Posted by Megs

Today we have a longer interview, thanks to TLC, with Daniel Radcliffe from Entertainment Weekly, which I mentioned yesterday.

EW: You were 11 when you were cast as Harry Potter, who was already a global phenom.  Did you feel pressure?
DR: If I had been older and slightly more self-aware about the following that Harry had, I would have been slightly more intimidated.  Ignorance and confidence of youth- it’s enough to transcend that.
EW: How did you go about creating Harry?  And how has your perception changed over the years?
DR: In the beginning, creating the character was all about the costume and the look.  That’s how people thought of him.  In terms of what I did to prepare, it was very much: Just learn the lines.  I’m aware now that there are so many different ways to play any one line.
EW: What makes Harry interesting for you to play?
DR: That he is not perfect.  He’s capable of being quite arrogant, quite stubborn, pigheaded, and a little bit selfish.  He can make himself something of a martyr when he really doesn’t have to.  All those characteristics are wonderful because it separates Harry from the archetypical superheroes hat you so often get in children’s literature.
EW: Has J. K. Rowling offered you advice on playing Harry since the first film?
DR: I did ask her for some advice on the fifth film.  I talked to her about Harry’s emergence as the leader of Dumbledore’s Army.  She said that it was very important because it’s the first time we see Harry be a leader, and eventually he’s going to have to lead large numbers of people.
EW: If you could have spent your adolescence playing any other character, who would it be?
DR:  I was always unbelievably jealous of Tobey Maguire playing Spider-Man.  I do think Spidey is the coolest of superheroes.

First Look Inside Wizarding World Theme Park with Soft Opening
Posted by Megs

Inside the Magic had an opportunity to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park today!

I am notoriously long-winded in my reviews of new attractions but I can easily sum of the entirety of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in one word: Wow. There is really nothing more to say. There is “wow” everywhere you look.

In my 3-hour visit to the Wizarding World, I experienced all there is to see… except the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride which shut down just before I reached the entrance. But I will return soon enough to experience that. Surprisingly, despite the fact that I did not see the new multi-million dollar attraction, I am still blown away by the what I experienced throughout Hogsmeade Village. It’s the most detailed theme park environment I have ever stepped foot in.

The Orlando Sentinel is also reporting that fans who bought early packages to visit the park were able to enter!

She was among the first members of the public to experience the new attraction, which had a two-hour preview Friday morning for customers who purchased a special Harry Potter package at Universal Orlando Resort hotels. Kelley and other preview participants experienced the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride that’s housed in the signature Hogwarts castle. Once onboard, passengers virtually fly along with the Potter character through various adventures and encounters with Dementors, dragons and a Quidditch match.

For more details view the links above.  Inside the Magic has a bunch of photos and videos you can enjoy!

Harry Potter Books May Release in e-Book Format
Posted by Megs

MediaBistro is reporting that the Harry Potter books MAY be released in e-book form!

As the iPad and iBookstore launches in the UK, the agency representing bestselling Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has said they are exploring eBook options for the beloved series–possibly taking off one of the most prominent global authors off the No eBooks list.

Rowling has held a spot on eBookNewser’s list of readers’ favorite authors who are lacking eBook versions.

Here’s more from The Bookseller: “Neil Blair, partner at the Christopher Little Agency (CLA) which represents Rowling, said the agency was ‘currently considering all the options and opportunities that this evolving space provides.’ The agency was ‘actively’ looking, whereas previously it had just been ‘monitoring the developing area,’ he said.”
