New Fiona Shaw Interview
Posted by Megs

BBC has uploaded a new video interview with Fiona Shaw (Petunia Weasley) entitled 5 Minutes with: Fiona Shaw.  In the interview many questions are asked of Fiona and she mentions Harry Potter, the rest are also very interesting so the whole interview is worth a watch.  You may view the video here!

Very famous as a classical actress, but also the Harry Potter films and Three Men and A Little Lady.  Do you like film as much as theater?
I like being funny as much as being in serious things, yes.

Thanks TLC!

Rupert Grint talks Deathly Hallows and More in Young Performer
Posted by Megs

In the current issue of Young Performer magazine Rupert Grint is featured on the cover and in the interview he talks about Deathly Hallows, Wild Target and more!  You can view scans over at the RG.us gallery!

Q: Are there activities you’re forbidden to do while contracted to Harry Potter?
A:
I haven’t been allowed to ski or do extreme sports-unless I was filming in a gap between the Harry Potter films.

Q: You’ve acted professionally since you were 11. How do you cope with the limelight?
A:
I wasn’t prepared because it came out of the blue. I’d no ideas how films were even made, so it took a while to get use to. I’m still not used to it, so I guess fame is the most difficult bit.

Q: What’s your strangest encounter with a Harry Potter fan?
A:
Fans aren’t that weird here, but in America and Japan they’re more extreme and in your face, and occasionally they grab at you.

Q: How do you keep grounded?
A:
I get on with it and I don’t think about stuff too much. I just love the acting and I come from a big, supportive family, which as always helped.

Q: Will you be gutted when you’ve shot your final Harry Potter?
A:
It’s a weird feeling that’s creeping up on us all now and I don’t know I’ll deal with it because I’m really proud of Harry Potter. It’s been a massive part of my daily routine since I was 11. It’s going to take a while to adjust.

Q: Have you got your eye on any Harry Potter memorabilia?
A:
I’ve tried to take a few little souvenirs in the past and I’ve got a tie, but I’d really like to keep my wand.

Q: Next up you’re playing a skier Eddie The Eagle. Are there other things you’d like to do?
A:
I’ve never skied in my life, so that’ll be a challenge. I’d like to do theatre at some point, not sure what type of role, but I always got a real buzz from it when I was at school because it’s so different from film. So I’m up for anything on stage.

Q: Why do you drive an ice-cream van rather than a car?
A:
I love ice cream and it was always a dream of mine. It’s fully functional and is like a kitchen on wheels, so it’s not practical to drive because it’s huge.

Q: You’re not the red-carpet type, so any hobbies?
A:
I’m really into golf. It’s an old man’s game and I never thought I’d get into it, but it’s fun. And I love drawing, water colours, painting. I don’t keep much of it but I’m always doodling.

Q: What do you think of the Ron Weasley action figures?
A:
They’re strange, because some of them are really bad. There are lots of different official ones and some are realistic, but then they’re weird too!

Q: Can you tell us a secret about the final Harry Potter?
A:
Well, I wear a wig, even though I’ve always had long hair. I wear hairpieces to make my hair look wilder because we’re kind o living rough. I had four pieces glued in and was constantly picking bits of glue out of my hair.

Daniel Radcliffe Attends Movie Con III
Posted by Megs

Daniel Radcliffe made a surprise visit to the MovieCon III for their Harry Potter presentation!  With this appearance we have a wonderful new interview, read some snippets below.

What was making this double Potter like though?
“It was hard. Before, the producers and directors were very good at taking all the pressure on their shoulders, but this time going into it we were slightly more nervous than we were before, because we didn’t want to screw it up as the last one. It was a long shoot, near enough 18 months, but a film set is the best place in the world as far as I’m concerned. The first part is a very weird road movie kind of thing. The first part is slower paced, but only compared to the second part. There’s more of an exploration of the relationships between the characters, that’s tested for the first times. And you’re not in Hogwarts, which gives it a very different feel from the other movies. It’s a road movie, in a weird way, and it’s hwo the characters function outside those familiar surroundings. The second part starts as a heist movie and then turns into a war. It’s epic. The thing they did on the last day was to play us the trailer, and there was a collective sigh of, “Phew, it’s going to be really good”. This is the first time I’m genuinely excited to see the film. Because it was filmed over such a long period, I’ve genuinely forgotten what we shot early on.”

Have you watched the films on DVD?
“I do, but I rarely watch them. I have two friends – just two! – and one wants me to play the Lego Harry potter game with him, and the other wants me to give him an uncensored commentary with them sometime.”

So a Potter-thon?
“No! I do get really embarrassed watching the early one. I was talking to Emma on set once on set and saying how bad we were, and we were on mike, and suddenly I heard Mike Newell shout, “You got it because you were both BLOODY ADORABLE”.

Since then it’s been David Yates – has it helped having him all the way?
“I think whoever directed the sixth had to direct the seventh; you needed to ensure that there wouldn’t be a distraction there, of a change in style. I’m thrilled that David did them all, he’s the loveliest man, so quiet and soft-spoken, but he has an incredible vision for plots. He can see the entire film in front of him. He can come up to me when we’re doing scene 328 and reference something we did in scene 8, and I’ve got no memory for those things.”

What role do you have your eye on if they remake this in 30 years?
“I don’t! But if I have to, Sirius if they do it in 30 years, and Dumbledore if they do it in 50. But Sirius is the part that everyone wants; Ian Hart had just read the third book on set of the second movie, and he was kicking himself that he didn’t get Sirius. But of course I was glad that went to Gary Oldman, because as you all know he’s my true love.”

Not Snape?
“I don’t think so, but only because Alan Rickman is so indelibly printed on that role for me and I can’t imagine anyone else doing it.”
