The Daily Mail has posted a new interview with Tom Felton. He talks about the freedom he has now that Potter is over, being “famous”, debt, auditions and lots more.
Everyone wonders why none of the Potter cast made an even vague nod towards going off the rails having had immense fame and wealth thrust upon them at such a young age. Tom credits the very special working relationship with the Potter crew which keeps all the cast, even the Sirs and Dames who play the adults, on their feet.
‘We all feel pretty normal because most of us pretty much are, other than having to do this job and speak to the Press and promote films,’ he says. ‘If you have enough smoke going up your backside, eventually you will start to breathe it. But none of us put ourselves around people who are going to blow smoke.
‘The crew especially are the first people to whip us into shape and tell us that we are no one special. The banter is thick on Harry Potter and that has been crucial in keeping us down-to-earth.
‘If someone tried to take the hierarchy thing too seriously — for example, being lovely to producers but moaning to runners about the tea — that would not be accepted on Harry Potter; someone would pull you aside and have a word.’
Despite the cream of British talent working on the films, he says none of them pull rank. ‘We have been taught by the best in the business. Not only about acting but how to act with the crew.

Thanks again to HarryPotterLA we have translations from two of the interviews in Cinemania (with more on the way!) For now we just have Emma and Dan, which may be read here.
Harry Potter is going to be part of Hollywood history as one of the biggest franchises of all time. What would you like the people to remember about them?
Dan: I hope they remember the bond between Harry and both of his friends. Friendship is very important, even more if you were unfortunate and you grew up without parents, like Harry. His friends were his family, and for many kids who are in similar situations in the real world, he’s kind of a role model.
Is it true the first time Rowling met you she said it was like finding his lost son?
Dan: That’s true. You can’t receive a better compliment, can you? She’s very nice. The first time we talked on the phone she said she wanted to adopt me, which was a great thing. I just handed the phone to David Heyman (producer), I was very embarrassed. She’s a great person.
From all the directors, which one is the one who understood better the Potterverse?
Emma: Chistopher really understood the book’s heart; Alfonso, his magic; Mike understood the comedy; and David, the darkness and subtlety. Everyone gave interesting things.
Which was the most memorable scene?
Emma: The most fun was Fleur & Bill’s wedding, everyone dancing and everything. The last week I made a scene where I had to jump over a dragon’s back and it was amazing. As well as the scene where we are chased by Snatchers through the forest. Also, I’ll never forget the scene where Helena Bonham Carter tortures me.
Hopefully the other translations will be ready today!
