Emma Watson Taking Some Time Off School
Posted by Megs

Today Emma has updated her Official Site to let fans know she is taking some time off from school for career reasons.  Her message says the following:

As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible.

I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter (the last one comes out this summer) and to focus on my other professional and acting projects. I will still be working towards my degree… it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought : )

Hope you are all well! Thank you for all your continuing support.

Emma Watson’s Line with Alberta Ferretti to be Released March 21st
Posted by Megs

Today WWD reports that Emma Watson’s line with fashion designer Alberta Ferretti will be released on March 21st. The collection is made up of 2 dresses, a top, a pair of shorts and a skirt and prices range from $345 [250 Euros] to $1,173 [850 Euros].  Some snippets of the article may be read below, to read the full story head over to WWD.

[…] Produced with materials and techniques that are environmentally friendly and made in Italy, the collection is labeled Pure Threads by Emma Watson Alberta Ferretti and will be available exclusively on albertaferretti.com beginning March 21.

“Rather than an opportunity, this is an urgent project,” said Ferretti. “Ecological materials cost twice as much, and selling online is a way to reach customers around the world faster, while containing costs.” […]

“I’m pleased that a luxury brand such as Alberta Ferretti has decided to create ecological clothes,” said Watson. “I believe this is a big step forward for all of the international fashion industry, but also an important step for an increased sensitivity to the problem of ecology.”

“I’m grateful Emma accepted this creative partnership that can contribute to fashion and to the health of the planet,” said Ferretti of Watson. […] “She’s an actress I’ve followed since her early days. I like her freshness, her spontaneity and simplicity,” said Ferretti. “She is intelligent, with a strong personality, a young, modern girl of today but aware of social issues at the same time and very rigorous. This is a moment that demands strong attention to these issues and we can help in communicating them,” said the designer.

The article also came with a new photo of Emma with Alberta.

WB Shells Out 500 Grand So Daniel Can Promote Deathly Hallows
Posted by Megs

Here’s a very interesting news story to add some spice to a somewhat boring day in Harry Potter land.  The New York Post is reporting that Warner Bros. have had to spend $500,000 so Daniel Radcliffe will be able to promote Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II and miss a few nights of his play, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. According to the article:

In tense negotiations, “How To Succeed” producers refused to release Radcliffe for the days when Warner needed him — forcing the studio to buy out the whole theater for the nights he’d have to miss.

A source told us, “Warner Bros. is furious that Radcliffe committed to Broadway when he should be promoting ‘Harry Potter.’ This is the final film, so it’s a big deal. A grand world premiere is being planned as well as a US premiere and a press tour. They absolutely couldn’t do it without their big star. But the theater producers dug their heels in and said they wouldn’t release Radcliffe unless Warner bought out the entire theater for the nights they need him. Studio bosses are furious, but they have no choice but to pay up for five nights costing over $500,000.”

Radcliffe’s rep said, “Everything is fine, Dan is promoting the film and is happy to do so. With all productions there are scheduling issues but everything has all been worked out. Warner Bros. is very supportive of Dan, and there is no issue.

I don’t usually post stories like this but I thought it was very interesting and worth sharing.

Video on The Making of ‘Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story’
Posted by Megs

Tonight, Access Hollywood featured a behind the scenes look at Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story an UNAUTHORIZED biography on JK Rowling that will air on Lifetime later in the year.  The film is based on JK Rowling’s life before Harry Potter and is based loosely on events that happened in her life, so it will be a dramatization and shouldn’t be considered as actual facts on her life (but most fans know the real facts anyway).

Thanks to SS for the tip!
