Empire magazine have released yet another video and text interview from their series of interviews with the Potter cast. This time is is Lucius Malfoy actor Jason Isaacs talking about the final film. Previously they have posted interviews with Matthew Lewis, James and Oliver Phelps, Tom Felton and Rupert Grint. You can see scans from the issue in the gallery and it is on sale now.
How are you feeling now that it’s all coming to an end?
It’s hard to process because luckily I’ve kept working; if I step away and think about it, it does get terribly upsetting. Mostly upsetting because for me it was just an incredibly familiar and enjoyable process. Going to Leavesden Studios where the same group of people had been for over a decade, seeing the same faces in the cafeteria, to watch people grow — not just the actors but all the crew. And then that extraordinary privilege of working with that cast!
Contact Music has posted another short interview, this time with Julie Walters and Daniel Radciffe, I believe this is also from the latest issue of Empire magazine which is FULL of interviews, so be sure to pick it up [see some scans here]. There are spoilers for those of you that haven’t read the book.
“‘Deathly Hallows: Part 2’ is Mrs Weasley’s big moment. She’s right in the middle of the Battle of Hogwarts. Before we’ve seen her as a sweet mum, even though she is a wizard. But you see another side to her. And she has one of the most famous lines in the books. Everyone wrote to me and said, ‘I hope they’re not going to take that out, are they?’ ”
Julie’s co-star, Daniel Radcliffe – who plays the titular wizard character – said he is also glad the family friendly film series allowed the line, as it’s pivotal to the high emotions of the series’ final battle. He said: “I’ve always been very against any swearing in these films and I don’t know why because I swear so much in my real life, but if the, ‘not my daughter, you bitch!’ line is in the book, then that’s fine.”
In a new interview, Helena Bonham Carter talks about her fight scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II. If you don’t want any spoilers for the book, I suggest you stop reading now:
The actress, who plays evil witch Bellatrix Lesrange in the film series, fought against Julie Walters’ character Molly Weasley so hard in their pivotal final moments, they were both aching afterward. She said: “You should warm up before sword fighting, that’s what Julie and I found out when we were duelling with each other. We were crippled after that scene! Duelling going backward on a table is tricky, without falling off. Which, of course, I did!”
The duel was a source of amusement for the film’s cast and crew too, especially because they were watching the two characters go from being friends to mortal enemies every time the cameras rolled. Mark Williams, who plays Arthur Weasley, told Empire magazine: “They could’ve sold tickets for filming that scene. They were chatting one minute and cutting each other to bits the next. It was brilliant!”
