Video: Teaser Trailer for Paddington
Posted by Megs

The first teaser for one of David Heyman’s new ventures, Paddington, has been released via Yahoo! Movies. Harry Potter actors Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent will be in the film as Mrs. Bird and Mr. Gruber with Colin Firth voicing the famous Paddington bear.

David Heyman commented on the film in an interview: “Paddington Bear is a universally loved character, and I have wanted to bring him to screen for some years. Michael Bond’s ‘Paddington’ books have such wit, wonder and charm. Essentially, Paddington’s story is that of an immigrant arriving in London and trying to find a home and a family. Above all, I love Paddington’s unique style of comedy.”

A couple synopsis for the film may be read below:

Paddington has journeyed from Darkest Peru, wearing a duffle coat, hat and Wellington boots, carrying a suitcase containing an empty jar of marmalade and wearing a label around his neck that reads “Please look after this bear, thank you.” His arrival in the household of the Brown family leads to comic mishaps and misadventures for the well-meaning but accident-prone young bear.

///

The story follows a curious young Peruvian bear with a passion for all things British who travels to London in search of a home. Lost and alone at Paddington Station, he meets the kindly Brown family who offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed, until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist.

Julie Walters Receives Richard Harris Award at BFA’s
Posted by Megs

Following in the footsteps of many other Harry Potter stars, Molly Weasley actress Julie Walters has been honored with the Richard Harris award at the British Independent Film awards. The Richard Harris Award was introduced in 2002 in honour of Richard Harris (who played Dumbledore in the first two Potter films) and recognises outstanding contribution to British film by an actor. Previous winners have included Potter actors John Hurt, David Thewlis, Jim Broadbent, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, and Michael Gambon.

Julie Walters CBE who started out in TV working with comedian Victoria Wood has built a highly successful career spanning 4 decades becoming one of the UK’s most beloved actors in the process. She broke in to film with her BAFTA and Golden Globe winning performance in a supporting role in the 1984 international hit EDUCATING RITA where she starred alongside Sir Michael Caine. The role also earned her an Academy Award nomination. Walters was once again nominated for an Academy Award in 2001 for Stephen Daldry’s BILLY ELLIOT and that same year was cast as Molly Weasley in HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE – a character she would continue to play for the next 10 years as the franchise became a global phenomenon. She has starred in some of British cinema’s greatest films including CALENDAR GIRLS in 2003, and one of the highest-grossing UK films of all time MAMMA MIA! Walters will next be seen as ‘Nan’ in THE HARRY HILL MOVIE out later this month, and plays Mrs Bird in the highly anticipated live-action drama PADDINGTON which is due for release in late 2014.  – See more at: http://www.bifa.org.uk/releases/julie-walters-to-be-honoured-at-the-16th-moet-british-independent-film-awards#sthash.cjIsnJ30.dpuf

Potter Cast Talk Harry Potter Studio Tour
Posted by Megs

Den of Geek have posted a new article where they interviewed Tom Felton, Julie Walters, Warwick Davis, The Phelps’, Bonnie Wright and Natalia Tena at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London at Leavesden Studios. They all talk about the upcoming attraction and their favorite parts.

Can you tell us which props won’t be on display on the tour because they’re on your mantle pieces?

Julie Walters: Nothing.

Oliver Phelps: They’re all there.

James Phelps: Everyone wanted a wand, and we were hoping on the last day they’d see “You take that with you”.

OP: We were dropping hints…

JP: But when all the bigwigs from Warner Bros were over we kind of “It’d be nice to have our wands wouldn’t it?” and they were like, “Yeah, it would be good wouldn’t it” but that was it.

JW: That was the end of it.

It’s an outrage. So, which is the prop or set that impressed you the most? Is it the wands?

JW: The Weasley set of course. I wanted to live in it, it was like a home. It didn’t feel like a set, it was gorgeous, you couldn’t be on there long enough, the detail was enormous.

Bonnie Wright: One thing I wonder if they’ll ever show, was in Stuart Craig’s office above his desk he had this great drawing, just plain paper and felt tip pen, the first time that Jo and he met to sit down and discuss, she just did a really simple, simple map, like Hagrid’s house, Hogwarts, lake, Quidditch Pitch. It was literally just her drawing of where she knew in her mind where it was all going to be. It was above his desk throughout the whole film.
