Potter Producers Talk Epilogue
Posted by Megs

In another new interview, this time with MTV, the Harry Potter producers David Heyman and David Barron discuss the epilogue. Some snippets may be read below.

“It’s not long. It’s about two … a couple of minutes,” Barron said. “It’s long enough to tell its story. We like it. We think it works well, and it does leave you feeling a bit [emotional].”

“We’re expressing it through our three principle characters, who obviously have had a terrible time in many respects. Because they have been fighting Voldemort for longer than we can remember, and came close to death, you’ll see the state of the school at the end. It was not an easy battle,” he said. “As countries, as nations do, as cultures do, they recover and they renew and life carries on. It is about renewal.”
[…]
“[The epilogue is] about the cycles of life,” Heyman explained. “It’s about Harry, Ron and Hermione taking their children to King’s Cross station to the very place where the story began, to begin the journey that they began many years ago. It’s really beautiful and really tender.”
[…]
So do Heyman and Barron know what the last scene of the “Harry Potter” franchise is? “Yes, but we’re not going to tell you just yet,” Heyman said with a laugh. “It’s the one where Voldemort comes back!” Barron teased. That sounds like the right time to announce a reboot of the series with Radcliffe starring as Dumbledore.

David Heyman and David Barron Talk Deathly Hallows 2
Posted by Megs

Collider were able to interview Harry Potter producers David Heyman and David Barron at CinemaCon. The Davids spoke about the length of the final film, 3D and more.

Do you guys ever envision a 3D conversion of the earlier films and also the theatrical re-release of them in 3D?
Heyman: We haven’t’ talked about it but I won’t be surprised if that happens. I don’t know about theatrical but I suspect in 3D that will go on.

What’s the running time of the final film?
Barron: It will be one of the shortest films.
Heyman: It will be the shortest film.

So what does that mean?
Heyman: We don’t know yet, because we’re still editing.
Barron: It’s not a short film, but it will be shorter than the others.

When I spoke to you guys last time, you mentioned that the last film was much more of an action film. Is that still the case?
Heyman: It’s not non-stop action, but it’s a lot of action. But, one the the things that makes Harry Potter so special is it’s not just action, not just magic, it’s characters, humanity and truth.

Barron: And a strong emotional core.

Heyman: And that’s what this film has: a real strong emotional center. So yeah there’s a lot of action, and it’s a really thrilling ride, and it ends with the final confrontation with Voldemort with Harry, but most importantly it’s a film that moves you and it makes you really involved and invested in the characters.

They also posted a description of the Part 2 footage that was shown.

The last bit of footage was from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.  Producers David Heyman and David Barron took the stage and showed us about 4 minutes of footage.  Cutting from what seemed like an extended trailer to random bits from the movie, the stuff they showed today was epic.  Since I don’t want to spoil anything for those that haven’t read the books, I’ll just say they showed us some MAJOR stuff from the last 20 minutes of the movie.  Besides key moments from the end of the movie, they showed us the escape from Gringots, looking for stuff in the forest, major chase scenes, and a key moment with Harry and some people that Voldermort has killed off.  Fans of the books, you know what I’m talking about…

As someone that has read the books more than once, the stuff they showed looked like I’d always imagined it and I absolutely think they’ve hit a massive home run.  Fans are going to love the final installment and I think it could be the best film of The franchise

New Deathly Hallows Set Report with Interviews
Posted by Megs

The Philippine Daily Inquirer has posted a sample from their upcoming set report for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  In the preview we hear from Rupert Grint, Robbie Coltrane, Tom Felton and David Barron.

Rupert Grint wasn’t needed on the set, but he graciously came to talk to us. The actor who plays Ron Weasley shared his feelings as the blockbuster franchise ends […]: “It’s a weird feeling. I’ve spent half of my life doing these movies. It’s quite emotional. But, at the same time, I’m looking forward to the freedom to do other films.” The red-haired actor, more talkative now than when we first met him several years ago, also talked about his much-awaited kissing scene with Emma Watson (Hermione Granger). Saying he was nervous since he has known Emma as a friend for 10 years, Rupert revealed that it was hard to concentrate. “The first take was quite hard,” said Rupert, who recalled that they did four takes of the smooch, which many “Harry Potter” fans around the world can’t wait to see.

Like Rupert, who had scenes with a boy actor who plays his child (“The kid looks just like me!”), Tom Felton also acted with a youngster who portrays his offspring. “It was bizarre, nerve-wracking and poignant at the same time, because it reminded me of how I began,” pointed out Tom, who is as nice in person as he is evil as Draco Malfoy.

Blessed with a winking sense of humor, Robbie said that while it takes many hours to put on all that hair, “two young ladies” come with oil to help him take off all that expensive wig and makeup at the end of the day. “Somebody has to do it,” Robbie said with a smile, as he played with his mile-long beard.

Co-producer David Barron disclosed that no decision has yet been made as to where the much-anticipated movies will be split into two parts. “There are three sensible places where we can do the split,” he shared.

Dan and David B: New Interview
Posted by Megs

The Sunday Mail has a new interview with Daniel Radcliffe and producer David Barron and they about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  Read some snippets below:

Campsite scenes showing Harry and his mates on the run from evil enemy Voldemort were shot on the shores of Loch Etive, near Oban. Daniel said: “We were only in Scotland for one night to do the camping scenes but it was magic. The mountains up there looked kind of blue and the weather was great. It was fun but I am not sure how well I would cope if I really went camping. I’m sure I would enjoy it as long as there was someone to cook for me. I have done caravan holidays and they were great. It was when we were in a caravan in Devon that I experienced my first thunderstorm. I was terrified.” Daniel and the regular Harry Potter cast – including Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as best friends Ron and Hermione – are currently filming the two-part finale in Leavesden Studios near Watford.

———

And even though the deep freeze had gripped the area – surrounding the studios with ice and snow – the Potter team managed to avoid falling victim to the Arctic weather. Producer David Barron made a snap decision not to write snow scenes into the plot.

He said: “If we had the likelihood is that by the time we filmed them, the snow would have gone. We have only lost half a day’s filming because of the snow.” Instead of shooting the scheduled outdoor sequences last week, the team moved back inside the studios and completed scenes on the giant Hogwarts Great Hall set.

As he prepared to act out a dramatic scene in the battle against Voldemort, Daniel revealed that audiences can expect a change of scene when the first part of the finale is released later this year.
He said: “Part I is a road movie. We are not in Hogwarts at all and it’s going to look very different, “And the action is going to be pretty extraordinary.”

Thanks SS!
