New Interview with Daniel Radcliffe on the set of The Woman in Black
Posted by Megs

In a new interview with The Daily Mail Daniel Radcliffe discusses his role in the film ‘The Woman in Black’, Harry Potter and more.

‘It’s my first grown-up role,’ the actor told me, noting that he was barely 17 when he made the televison film My Boy Jack.  ‘This is the first time I’ve played older than myself  –  I’m supposed to be 24 in this. And,’ he added, pausing for effect: ‘I’ve got a son.’ Then he laughed, and explained that he does indeed have a young son, but only on screen. Daniel’s child in the film is played by Misha Handley, who in real life is his godson. Misha’s the son of Thea Sharrock, who directed Daniel in his stage debut, Equus. ‘It’s very hard to fake the relationship that me and Misha have. There had to be a sense that we were close.’

He has starred in all of the Harry Potter movies, from Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone ten years ago to the final two-part Deathly Hallows – the first instalment of which is released on November 19. ‘It’s over now,’ Daniel said, wistfully. ‘I was much more emotional than I anticipated on the last day. ‘I won’t pretend that I’m not nervous about moving on. And I will have to work hard to stay busy, and try to separate myself from that character. So, I am slightly trepidatious. But whatever cannot be avoided, must be accepted.

‘The Woman In Black is very different from Harry Potter. But it’s different enough without me having to go all extreme and play a drug- dealing rent boy, or something where people go: “Oh, OK, he’s trying to shock us now.” I was simply after a good role.’ He said he read Jane Goldman’s screenplay during a flight from London to Los Angeles. (The film version, by the way, is quite different from the play of the same name, which has been running for 21 years at the Fortune Theatre.) ‘It’s scary on the page – absolutely terrifying! – and I must have freaked them out on the plane because I was pretty jumpy. By the time I landed, I knew I had to do it.’ The director, James Watkins, flew out to join the actor in LA and both agreed that The Woman In Black had to be more than just a ghost story. ‘It’s also about loss: the loss of a wife and the loss of children.’

Dan, Rupert, & Emma Featured in READ Campaign Posters & Contest To Win Them
Posted by Megs

As part of the American Library Association’s READ campaign Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are featured on three posters to promote reading.  The posters will go on sale on October 18th, here, for $40.  ALA Graphics is also having a Harry Potter trivia contest on Facebook, where you can win a set of the posters.

In celebration of the Harry Potter phenomenon readers Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson join the READ campaign.

For more than a decade, J.K. Rowling has captivated imaginations and inspired a generation of new readers with the Harry Potter series. Soon after learning at the age of eleven that he is a wizard, Harry Potter attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Here, he meets his best friends, Ron and Hermione, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, and a cast of eclectic teachers. While Harry, Ron and Hermione navigate the joys and hardships of growing up, their adventures in the wizarding world become darker and more dangerous.

On November 19th, the final installment in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, comes to the screen in the first of two parts. As the three friends race to find the Horcruxes that are the secret to Lord Voldemort’s power and immortality, the Dark Lord’s Death Eaters wreak havoc on the wizarding world. As the war wages, Harry Potter draws closer to the task for which he has been preparing since he became “the boy who lived”: the ultimate battle with Voldemort.

Sky News Interviews Emma, Dan and Rupert
Posted by Megs

Sky News has updated their site with their interviews with Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Daniel Radcliffe that appeared in their latest issue. (I meant to post the scans but I have been so busy with work that I forgot).  Some segments may be read below, these interviews seem to have been given a long while ago as they are still talking about Half-Blood Prince mostly.

SKY MOVIES MAGAZINE: Do you feel like you’re at the end of a journey?
EMMA WATSON: I feel really pressured, because I feel like this is my last go, my last shot. I don’t want to have any regrets. I want it to be the best performance I’ve ever given. I want to know that I’ve done the best that I can possibly do. It’s really strange.

SMM: Are you thinking about what you’re going to do after?
EW: I really think I need to recharge my batteries and go and be me for a bit.

SMM: Will you carry on acting?
EW: I really don’t know. I think I need to find some real belief in myself away from this. I know that I can play Hermione, but I don’t know… we’ll see.

——

SMM: The films keep getting darker. How does Half-Blood Prince compare with the upcoming Deathly Hallows?
DR: I think the level of darkness in Half-Blood Prince was the same as Order Of The Phoenix, but the scale is bigger. Phoenix is a more intimate story about loss and sadness, whereas Half-Blood Prince is more of a thriller. It’s about putting the pieces together – and that’s what Deathly Hallows takes even further.

SMM: Have you got any plans now the series has finished?
DR: There are a few things that I’m keen on, but there are no dates or anything for any of them yet, so I’m not going to jinx them! Hopefully they’ll come off.

SMM: Is it a shock going to work on a low-budget film like Cherrybomb after the pampered world of Harry Potter?
RG: Well, it was quite scary going to a different place, but the biggest difference was just the pace they worked at. It was much quicker and it was much more exciting, actually.

SMM: Do you get recognised everywhere you go now?
RG: I do get recognised quite a bit now but everyone’s really nice so it’s quite easy to deal with. But still a bit strange.

SMM: What are you most looking forward to with the last two films?
RG: I really loved the book. There’s a lot of great stuff in it. Particularly in Part 2 – that’s what I’m most looking forward to because that’s where all the action is. And the “20 years after” thing – that’s going to be interesting. I’m pretty sure they’ll age us up for that. I can’t really see them doing that with CG…
