JK Rowling Still Working on Harry Potter Encyclopedia
Posted by Megs

In the FAQ section of her newly revamped website JK Rowling addresses the issue of the Harry Potter Encyclopedia, known as The Scottish Book for longtime Potter fans. She has been working on it since Deathly Hallows came out, so this is no big shock for fans. She says:

For a long time I have been promising an encyclopedia of Harry’s world, and I have started work on this now – some of it forms the new content in Pottermore. It is likely to be a time-consuming job, but when finished I shall donate all royalties to charity.

Fans should note that this doesn’t mean it will be released any time soon as she is probably working on other projects simultaneously. It could be many years before the book is published, but it will be well worth the wait!

JK Rowling’s Site Relaunched; Release Date and Title for New Book
Posted by Megs

JK Rowling’s website has been relaunched with a new design and information about her new book, which we learned about a short while ago. The book is entitled The Casual Vacancy, and will be released on Thursday, September 27th. A synopsis of the book is as follows:

“When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock.

Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty facade is a town at war.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.

And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?”

We will post more news as it develops!

Posted by Megs

James and Oliver Phelps are among the newest additions to the 2012 Calgary Expo lineup! The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo is a non-profit organization showcasing pop culture including comics, sci-fi, gaming, anime, and horror. The event will be held from April 27 – 29, 2012 at the BMO Centre, Stampede Park, in Calgary, AB, Canada. For more info & tickets, visit www.calgaryexpo.com

Good things come in pairs! British actors and real life twins, James and Oliver Phelps from the blockbuster Harry Potter films will be amongst the powerhouse lineup attending the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo April 27-29, 2012 at the BMO Centre.

The Phelp twins were recurring characters in the decade-long Harry Potter franchise, and were one of J.K. Rowlings favourite characters featured in all eight of the films. Best known for their humorous portrayal of Fred and George Weasley, the older brothers to Harry’s best friend Ron Weasley.

“James and Oliver added a lot of laughter and charm to the Harry Potter films,” says the Calgary Expo Event Director, Kandrix Foong. “Since Sunday, April 29 is World Wish Day for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, we’re very happy to add yet more guests that children and adults alike will find exciting and entertaining.”

The brothers are replacing fellow Harry Potter actor, Tom Felton, who had to post-pone his appearance due to a scheduling conflict. The twins were famous for their pranking and mischief at the school and are now bound to bring Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes to Calgary!

Thanks to the organizers for letting us know!
