The first trailer for Emma Watson’s upcoming thriller, Regression, has been released. The movie also stars David Thewlis (Professor Lupin), and Ethan Hawke and has a release date of August 28, 2015. The trailer as well as a short synopsis may be seen below:
REGRESSION is set in a small Minnesota town in 1980 where a man is arrested for sexually abusing his daughter. He admits his guilt despite having no memory of it. With the help of a psychologist, he relives the memories and implicates a police officer as his partner in crime. The man’s estranged son and other townspeople are also suddenly able to relive suppressed memories of horrific abuse. At the same time, the local news reports blame a Satanic cult that has been performing rituals of orgies, assault, killing animals and even babies, for years. The officers are alarmed when similar reports come in from all around the country—they believe they’ve uncovered a national and possibly supernatural conspiracy. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kenneth Branagh discusses his live-action version of Disney’s Cinderella. Kenneth is best known to Potter fans as Gilderoy Lockhart, but has had an enduring career in acting and directing.
Was making Cinderella something of a departure for you?
The fairy tale element was a surprise to me in that, although I’ve read them and enjoyed them, I didn’t ever think this was a subject I was likely to make a film about. But when you go back to the original source material, you become aware of how all-pervasive this Cinderella myth is. How many times do you read about “the Cinderella story,” the story of the underdog, the story of the ordinary human being, often subjected to cruelty and ignorance and neglect, who somehow triumphs?
How much did you deviate from the original Disney cartoon?
The animation actually took a number of liberties with the original story, which of course has been told and retold across every type of culture, with different names and even different types of cruelty. There are some in which the stepsisters cut their toes off in order to force their feet into the slipper. What we put front and center was a level of reality and psychological truth in the performances that would be surprising in the context of a fairy tale.
Did you feel much pressure when dealing with one of Disney’s prized characters?
Anybody who goes into the Disney world and takes on one of these live-action versions of an animated classic is always up against that kind of ancestry. But my entire filmmaking career and indeed my entire career has been in and around classics. Probably 90?percent of the stuff I make has inevitably been done before. … Whether it’s playing Hamlet, which has been on the go for 400 years, or pieces from the cinematic world that also have been essayed before, I feel released by that. What I think it confirms when people come back to the stories again is not that they’re tired, but that the themes and the stories and the character are ageless, and that they have a different kind of resonance for each passing generation.
Have you tried to modernize Cinderella for the current generation?
The first time we meet the grown-up Cinderella, she’s reading a book; she isn’t just scrubbing the steps. She’s already intellectually stimulated. And she makes a decision to try and understand the cruelty and the ignorance of her stepmother and stepsisters. We see a strength of character that is sort of a form of nonviolent resistance. And she meets the prince way ahead of the ball, before she decides to fall for him. They get to know each other and the seeds of a romance are sewn in terms of equality. It’s not about a man rescuing a woman.
In a new interview in The Sunday Times, Michael Gambon revealed he will no longer be doing any stage acting due to his failing memory and inability to remember lines.
The 74-year-old, who as a young actor trained with Sir Laurence Olivier, now avoids roles with “lots of words”, he admitted in an interview.
He finally took the decision to bow out from stage work after an experiment involving lines read to him via an audio headset proved a failure.
Sir Michael explained: “There was a girl in the wings and I had a plug in my ear so she could read my lines. And after about an hour I thought, ‘This can’t work. You can’t be in theatre, free on the stage, shouting and screaming and running around, with someone reading your lines.
He added: “You know, when you’re there in front of an audience, that you’re not as good as you could be.
“It’s a horrible thing to admit, but I can’t do it. It breaks my heart. When the script is in front of me and it takes me forever to learn, it’s frightening”.
He will continue to act in television and films.
But Sir Michael said he has no plans to put his film and screen career on hold, he announced, amid glowing reviews for his work on hit polar drama Fortitude.
He appears as Private Godfrey in a forthcoming cinematic remake of television’s Dad’s Army. And he is booked to spend two weeks filming in New York and Canada after agreeing to take on “whatever comes along”.
The project, Gambon said, is directed by an unnamed Frenchman “who was talking to me on the phone the other day
“I didn’t understand a word he said. I kept saying, ‘Oh yeah, yeah – that’s great, alright, see you then. Bye.’
“I don’t know what it’s all about. I expect my agent will tell me”.
Additionally, BBC has released a new clip from The Casual Vacancy which will begin airing on BBC One next Sunday, February 15th at 9pm GMT. It will also air in the US on HBO from April 29th through the 30th.

BBC has released the first trailer for J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy miniseries, which will be airing on February 15th in the UK. The show stars Harry Potter’s Michael Gambon.
Also, HBO announced that it will be airing the miniseries at the end of April.
HBO has confirmed the debut dates for the HBO Miniseries/BBC adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s global bestseller THE CASUAL VACANCY, with parts one and two scheduled to debut back-to-back WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), followed by the debut of part three the next night, THURSDAY, APRIL 30 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET/PT).
THE CASUAL VACANCY centers on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind the pretty façade, however, is a town at war: rich vs. poor, teenagers vs. parents, wives vs. husbands, teachers vs. pupils.
The cast includes Michael Gambon, Keeley Hawes, Rory Kinnear, Monica Dolan and Julia McKenzie, and introduces Abigail Lawrie.
