The South Bank Awards took place at the Dorchester Hotel in London today. Lord Richard Attenborough presented J.K. Rowling an award for outstanding achievement in the arts in recognition of the Harry Potter series. JKR also did an interview at the event where she discussed Potter.
“It has been the worst break-up of my life – far worse than splitting up with any man,”
“But it has also been wonderful to stop and draw breath and think, ‘My God, look what’s happened with an idea I had 17 years ago on a train,”
“I think I’ve definitely finished his story. I said seven books and there have been seven,”

174 young students from King’s School will be getting fitted for their Hogwarts school robes this week.
Year six pupil Emily Summers said: “The two things I am looking forward to the most are watching everything going on around me, like filming and getting my costume fitted, and having my hair and make-up done.
The Cathedral cloisters will double up as areas in Hogwarts for a star-studded cast, which includes Daniel Radcliffe, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane and Julie Walters.

There is a new Jason Isaacs interview online where he answers a few questions about Harry Potter.
Do you read the Harry Potter books or wait for the scripts? I stopped reading the books when the scenes I loved, usually involving me, stopped making it into the scripts. I’m waiting to read the script for the last one, then I’ll read the book. I don’t want to fall in love with particular sequences that don’t end up in the film. Obviously, they can’t include the whole story or the films would each be 20 hours long. I read the first four books all in one go, but haven’t read one since.
I agree with him on that, but I still read the books first because they are way better. But it is so sad when parts we love are cut, isn’t it?
