“Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” Coming to HBO Max

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson join filmmaker Chris Columbus and other esteemed cast members across all eight Harry Potter films as they travel back to Hogwarts for the first time to celebrate the anniversary of the franchise’s first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which premiered 20 years ago today. The retrospective special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations, inviting fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time. The highly-anticipated retrospective will be a capstone event of the holiday season, dropping as the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, on HBO Max. The special will also debut on TBS and Cartoon Network in spring 2022 ahead of the Warner Bros. Pictures theatrical debut of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore and will roll out globally with more details to come.

Fans can jumpstart their Wizarding World celebration and gear up for the retrospective by checking out the 20th anniversary hub content on WizardingWorld.com. An exclusive first look at the special will debut during the premiere of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses on Nov. 28 (8:00 p.m. ET/PT) on TBS and Cartoon Network. The bracket-style quiz competition, hosted by Helen Mirren, will feature fans competing to take home the Tournament of Houses championship trophy and will feature magical cameos by Harry Potter film alumni Tom Felton, Simon Fisher-Becker, Shirley Henderson and Luke Youngblood, as well as superfans Pete Davidson and Jay Leno. The epic, four-part competition event will also begin streaming on HBO Max on Jan. 1.

Official Trailer for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses

More details have been released for the upcoming Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses show including a trailer. The first episode “Gryffindor vs. Hufflepuff” will air on TBS and Cartoon Network on Sunday Nov. 28th at 8pm. After it’s first run on those channels it will be available on HBO Max next year.

The full schedule is as follows:

Sunday, Nov. 28 – “Gryffindor vs. Hufflepuff”
Helen Mirren hosts the first episode of this epic TV event series. Over four episodes, the Houses of Hogwarts will battle to see which team knows the most about the Wizarding World, featuring more Harry Potter magic than you could find on a day trip to Diagon Alley. Tonight’s match-up sees the brave Gryffindors face the loyal Hufflepuffs for a guaranteed place in the grand finale. Guest stars include: Pete Davidson, Simon Fisher-Becker, Matthew Lewis, and Luke Youngblood. 
 
Sunday, Dec. 5 – “Ravenclaw vs. Slytherin”
Tonight’s blockbuster battle of the Houses of Hogwarts sees the wise and witty Ravenclaws go up against the proud and ambitious Slytherins in a test of Wizarding World knowledge. Only one team can claim an automatic place in the grand finale. As always, tonight’s match-up will take place under the watchful eye of the master of ceremonies  Helen Mirren, and guest star Tom Felton, Shirley Henderson, Jay Leno, and Luke Youngblood. Filled with classic Harry Potter movie moments, this is another historic night in Hogwarts history.
 
Sunday, Dec. 12 – “The Wildcard Round”
Helen Mirren returns to the Wizarding World to oversee this head-to-head wildcard matchup. The two houses that lost their previous battles in this distinguished TV event series now have one last chance to take their place in the grand finale. There will be more Harry Potter trivia than you could squeeze into a cupboard under the stairs. Tonight’s episode is another magical Harry Potter chapter of drama, courage and redemption. Guest stars include: Dan Fogler and Luke Youngblood. 
 
Sunday, Dec. 19 – “The Grand Finale”
Join Helen Mirren for a historic night in the history of Hogwarts as this epic TV event series culminates in the Grand Finale. Tonight’s final edition is full of Wizarding World trivia, packed with magical special guests and overflowing with classic clips. It all comes down to this, one team, one house will tonight lift the inaugural Hogwarts Tournament of Houses trophy.

Gearing up for the greatest fan competition in Wizarding World history, TBS and Cartoon Network released today the official trailer and new details for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses. Premiering Sunday, Nov. 28 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, the four-part special event, hosted by Academy Award®-winning actress Helen Mirren, will feature celebrity fans and Harry Potter film alumni as it showcases Wizarding World fandom on a never-before-seen scale.

Revealed in today’s trailer, Harry Potter cast members Tom Felton, Simon Fisher-Becker, Shirley Henderson, Luke Youngblood, and more will make special cameos alongside super fans Pete Davidson, and Jay Leno.

The bracket-style competition will feature fans competing for their Hogwarts house in teams of three. Houses go head to head in four epic battles answering hundreds of Wizarding World trivia questions with help from the live audience to unveil which house knows the intricately detailed universe like the back of their hand. Winning teams of each round will advance to the grand finale to determine who will take home the Tournament of Houses championship trophy.

Along with the spectacular trophy and ultimate bragging rights, the winning house will be awarded with a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Wizarding World locations across the East Coast.* All travel accommodations will be provided for. This includes:

First Look at Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses

TBS and Cartoon Network have released a first look Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses, hosted by Dame Helen Mirren. The four-part competition series will debut a new episode every Sunday, beginning Nov. 28 through Dec. 19, on TBS and as part of Cartoon Network’s ACME Night. It will be available on HBO Max early next year.

Nearly two decades since the global critical and box office hit of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s StoneHarry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses celebrates the 20th anniversary of the film and continues the Wizarding World spirit showcasing ultimate fan glory on a never-before-seen scale. Special Screenings at WB Studio Tour London for 20th Anniversary

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by holding special screenings of the film in November. The film had it’s world premiere on November 4th 2001 and it’s official opening was November 16th 2001 in the UK, Ireland, USA and Canada.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Screenings in the Great Hall

19th – 22nd November 2021

After 20 years, relive the magic where it all began as Warner Bros. Studio Tour London invites guests to take a seat in the Great Hall of Hogwarts for a showing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Each evening from Friday 19th – Monday 22nd November, fans are invited to explore the authentic sets, props and costumes of the Studio Tour and stop for a refreshing Butterbeer before returning to the Great Hall after-hours. Visitors will step in to the festively decorated Great Hall and take a seat on comfy Hogwarts-house themed bean bags to enjoy the film with a drink and snack from the Honeydukes Trolley!

The screening on Monday 22nd November will be adapted for visitors on the autism spectrum and for those with other sensory needs.

Tickets will go on sale on the 30th of September at 10am. Tickets include:

  • Non – exclusive Studio Tour entrance ticket (From 2.00pm)
