Another New Dan Interview

The LA Times has added a new interview with Daniel Radcliffe to their site.

Radcliffe said the “Potter” soundstage has been a second home and a one-of-a-kind acting academy. Several generations of the best from British and Irish stage and cinema have passed through the franchise, such as Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon, Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson and the late Richard Harris, and Radcliffe tried to learn something from each of them.

Asked for an example, he points out that Richard Griffiths, who plays Harry’s sour uncle, was raised by deaf parents and, attuned to nonverbal expression, approaches his work with a more internal strategy than most actors. He first learns what his character is thinking in each scene as opposed to what he is saying.

Griffiths also once advised Radcliffe to never let the camera catch him when he wasn’t thinking because the void would be read in his eyes; the veteran prefaced that counsel by saying it was told to him by Lee Marvin, who heard it from Spencer Tracy.

“Just think,” Radcliffe said, “how many young people get access to that sort of advice and that sort of history?”

But it’s Gary Oldman and Imelda Staunton who have left the biggest impression on Radcliffe. “To me those are the two that are just in the firmament,” Radcliffe said as he relaxed between takes. “All of them, everyone, has been brilliant, but those are the two that mean something special to me.”

New Dan Interview

The Guardian has posted a new interview with Daniel Radcliffe where he discusses many things, including Emma going to Brown University.

He suspects Watson has a harder time. “Not so much [with] people but with paparazzi. Generally speaking, it’s so much harder for girls. Guys are naturally lazy, and we like to lie around at home, so we don’t give people many chances. Whereas girls want to get out, socialise and meet people.”

But Watson seems to be enjoying all the opportunities for photoshoots and red carpet premieres. “Yeah, totally, but she’s much more natural at them than I am. She’s more suited to being able to talk to anyone – I get very nervous about those events. She’s been photographed at a lot of [fashion] things, and I think that’s a world she’s very interested in. I’ve seen some of the clothes she’s designed and [they’re] very good. She’s very clever. Do you know her GCSE results?” His eyes boggle: “I was thrilled with mine – seven Bs, two As and an A*. I think Emma got three As and seven A*s – she’s incredibly academic, it’s frightening. Me and Rupert to all intents and purposes dropped out of school. And she’s going to Brown.” He shakes his head in admiration of Watson’s place at the US Ivy League college.

New Emma Interview
Posted by Megs

Film Review Online has a new interview with Emma Watson where she discusses a myriad of things.

When he was making the first movie, Chris Columbus said he looked for kids who could handle the acting and the fame that would come with it. How confident were you that you could handle that?

The funny thing is that I didn’t realized that I’d be famous, that bit never really occurred to me. It honestly never did, I was just auditioning for a part, and as far as playing Hermione was concerned I loved her character so much, I felt that I knew how to play her and that I could be her, and so with that part I was pretty confident, but the fame thing never really hit home. When you’re filming a movie you’re kind of in a little bubble and you don’t really realize the impact that it’s having on the rest of the world, and then you have some surreal moments like a premiere and you realize that you’re famous, most of the time I forget.
