Warner Bros have released production notes for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I. The notes include some great interviews with the cast and crew! You can read all of the production notes here!
Composer Alexandre Desplat, who created his first Harry Potter score for “The Deathly Hallows – Part 1,” agrees. “Our heroes are constantly in motion, so I wanted the music to follow the thread of their journey, and find just the right balance between the action, suspense and emotion.”
“Alexandre’s music expresses so many different colors and emotions,” says Heyman. “His score has scale and intimacy, darkness and light.”
“My goal was to give the film an original musical imprint,” Desplat continues. “At the same time, I wanted to carry on the rich musical tradition of the composers who have scored the previous Harry Potter films in keeping with the series’ great heritage.”

MTV’s Harry Potter’s Sexiest Men list has been released and Tom Felton has come out on top! The list encompasses all of the Potter films, I must say that I do agree with who is on the list but I might switch around the order a bit. I was wondering where Jamie Campbell Bower was, but they aren’t counting those just in Deathly Hallows since its a look back at the films.
10. Matthew Lewis Yes, Neville Longbottom is supposed to be awkward and homely, but boy has Matthew Lewis grown out of that. He started off as being geeky and adorable in “Sorcerer’s Stone,” but has definitely toughened up over the years. Also, we should note that when Matt is out of his Neville make-up, he looks a whole lot cuter.9. James and Oliver Phelps Oh yeah, ladies, we get to put hot twins on our list too! (Two is always better than one, right?!) The Phelps boys have not only charmed our socks off as Fred and George Weasley, but they’ve also grown into two dashing young gentlemen (who also happen to be just as funny in real life!).
8. Stanislav Ianevski Looks like Viktor Krum won’t be making a return in “Part 1” like he did in the book, but that mostly bums us out because it means we won’t have a reason to drool over Stanislav Ianevski some more. Remember a time when we all thought that he was hotter than Robert Pattinson in “Goblet of Fire”?
7. Rupert Grint Who would have thought that hilarious Rupert Grint would grow up to be so freaking awkward/adorable. Sure, not all of you out there might be into gingers (more for us!), but it’s hard to deny that Rupert has an irresistible sort of charm that we’re looking forward to seeing more of in the future.
6. Freddie Stroma Cormac McLaggen might not have been the nicest person on the Quidditch team, but he sure was pretty to look at. Fortunately it looks like his purpose lasted beyond “Half-Blood Prince” since we’ll be seeing Freddie Stroma again in “Deathly Hallows: Part 1.” Thank goodness, because we need more blond beauties in “Harry Potter.”
5. Christian Coulson Before the Big Three had hit puberty in the films, we were already drooling over their arch enemy, Tom Riddle (a.k.a the boy who became Voldemort). Christian Coulson definitely made his mark in those few scenes he had in “Chamber of Secrets,” and we’re guessing the filmmakers didn’t bring him back for “Half-Blood Prince” because they probably didn’t want all the girls in the audience drooling over someone who would become the most evil being alive. C’est la vie.
4. Daniel Radcliffe My goodness, Daniel Radcliffe turned out well. Sure, we have a special place in our hearts for the tiny boy with big glasses and a lightning bolt scar from “Sorcerer’s Stone,” but Dan is just so charming in person (and talks at a rate of about a thousand words a minute) that he managed to be one of the hottest men in the cast as well. Plus, he’s talented.
3. Sean Biggerstaff You might find yourself asking, “Who the hell is Sean Biggerstaff?” Sean had the fairly small role in the first two “Potter” films of Oliver Wood, Harry’s Quidditch captain, but he is a fond memory that we love looking back on again, and again, and again. We suggest you hop on the bandwagon as well.
2. Robert Pattinson We would be remiss if RPattz didn’t make it on our list, and—prepare your rotten veggies—I’ll be the first to admit that I definitely think he is much hotter as Cedric Diggory than he is as Edward Cullen. Plus he has one of the top five most heartbreaking deaths in “Harry Potter” history, which earns him a top spot on this list. His death scene made me cry more than Sirius Black’s, and that’s saying something.
1. Tom Felton Nine years ago, when I first saw “Sorcerer’s Stone” in theaters, I never would have dreamed that one day I would say the boy behind that brat Draco Malfoy would earn the number one spot on a sexiest men of “Potter” list. But during those years, Tom Felton has not only become absolutely gorgeous but one of the sweetest and most charming men on the “Potter” cast, and, as we’ve shown, there are a lot of them. Plus I like the bad boys, what can I say?
In a new interview with MTV, Helena Bonham Carter has talked about her fellow castmates in Harry Potter, the end of filming and more!
“I definitely had a sense of finality and a real sense of loss, because I really got involved with people,” she told us. “You had to, not ‘you had to’ — they were a really nice group of people.”
That sense of loss was perhaps exacerbated by the fact that the final scene Bonham Carter filmed was the death of her character, Bellatrix Lestrange, who’s killed during the climactic Battle of Hogwarts. “You know what was weird, which has never happened on a film, was I died on my last day,” Carter revealed. “Usually you die the middle of the shoot. But they actually killed me off on my last day. So there was a sense of real end and finality. They zapped me. My last shot was me dead.”
Luckily, the actress will be reuniting with Radcliffe and their cohorts in a few days, as the cast gathers in London to begin the promotional effort for part one of “Deathly Hallows.” Then they’ll all hop on a plane heading to New York for another red-carpet premiere. Carter welcomes the chance to reconnect with pals. “I miss them all,” she confessed.
Movies.com have just emailed to let us know about their three part set report from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. They have interviews with Warwick Davis, production designer Stuart Craig, Matthew Lewis, Daniel Radcliffe, David Yates, costume designer Jany Temime and more! You can read the reports at the following links: one | two | three
Craig’s attachment to the entire series is a bit unusual but since he has designed the sets from the beginning, his eye for continuity has proven valuable. “I said to every one of [the directors], ‘You don’t have to have me,'” he laughed. “I know what we did before and how to rebuild it, but it isn’t as necessary as it appears. I think the changes of director have been exciting and stimulating and entirely good for the whole project. A change of designer would’ve produced similarly interesting results, I’m sure.”It’s been especially challenging for the filmmakers to adapt the books since many details of the final chapters had not yet been revealed. Craig said they’ve had to rebuild and revise many Hogwarts sets to accommodate additions. “When we started, there were just two novels. Not everything was known. We didn’t know [about the Room of] Requirement. Certain changes have been forced upon us. The astronomy tower’s had to pop up in the middle of the whole complex and the forecourt in front of it has had to get bigger and bigger to accommodate the battle at the end.”
As the series has gotten progressively darker, the crew has changed the color of the sets to match the films’ seriousness and emotional content. “The sets have literally gotten darker. That rather attractive sort of honey color, we’ve gone and painted out.”
