Dan Radcliffe on Why He Acts & Award Nomination
Posted by Megs

In a new interview with Digital Spy, Daniel Radcliffe talks about why he acts.  This came about because he was not nominated for this years Tony awards for his performance in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He was, however, nominated for the Best Leading Actor in a Musical award at the BroadwayWorld.com award, vote here.

He added: “I think I speak for 99% of actors when I say that… while it’s lovely to get recognized by your peers, it’s not the reason why we do it. The people that do this job for awards and recognition are kind of worshipping at the wrong altar, and I’m not really quite sure if I want to know those people.”

Dan Talks Deathly Hallows with Total Film
Posted by Megs

In the next issue of Total Film Daniel Radcliffe discusses Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and the split of the films.  They have posted a preview of the interview complete with a new photo.

Radcliffe is adamant that the book (not the longest in the Potter canon), couldn’t have been done justice in a single movie: “We could never have adapted it into one film.”

“If you come to me with a satisfactory adaptation of the seventh book into one film, then we can have this debate! All the books from The Goblet of Fire onwards were big, but with every one, you could cut swathes out without detracting from the main story.”

On why this one’s different, Radcliffe explained: “In The Deathly Hallows there are no subplots. It’s all the same story and it’s hard to lose a page.”

“If we’d have done it in one film we’d have had to reconfigure the entire story and it just wouldn’t have been an adaptation of the book.”

Hopefully when the magazine comes out someone will be able to get scans, if I have time I’m going to try to get out to buy it.
