Matthew Lewis Talks to Empire about Deathly Hallows Part II
Posted by Megs

Empire magazine have released a new video and text interview with Matthew Lewis where he discusses Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II.

We didn’t really see Neville much in Part 1. But Part 2 is, judging by the books, his finest hour.
I felt quite lucky to have been in Part One, to be honest, because the character’s not actually in the book until the end. But, you know, David said he wanted to stick him in just to remind people what was going on back at school. And it was just nice to have been in, because it means I was in all eight films even if it was only for one line!
Thanks Matthew-Lewis.com!

Video: James and Oliver Phelps Talk Deathly Hallows
Posted by Megs

As part of their video series, Empire magazine has released two more interviews, this time featuring James and Oliver Phelps talking about the series.

You’ve always had a lot of comic heavy-lifting, but in the last part there’s a switch into much more serious stuff.
James Phelps:
It was kind of easy: because we’ve played the characters for so long, we see them as more than the one-liners. So it was great fun playing the same characters with that comedy element but a serious side because they become entrepreneurs and this, that and the other. It’s nice to try and get that across.

Your characters have always added a rather light touch, but in this film there are some rather heavier sections.
Oliver Phelps:
Well yes, in the final instalment there are not a lot of laughs from Fred and George at all. Actually, the re-shoot scene that we did was, I think, the first time you see them scared. it’s great to be able to play the same character but show a totally different side, one that the audience haven’t seen before, or even something that they hadn’t been expecting.

David Heyman Talks Deathly Hallows Part II
Posted by Megs

In a new interview with SFX, Harry Potter producer David Heyman talks about the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, being in 3D.  The full interview is in the latest issue of SFX magazine, so be sure to check it out!

David Yates is approaching 3D is he’s trying to approach it from a character and story point of view. Trying to use the sense of isolation, of separation that sometimes 3D gives you, to heighten that at appropriate moments. So we’re approaching it in a storytelling way. In terms of Deathly Hallows Part One, we just ran out of time and in discussion with the studio, we told them we couldn’t preserve the quality and make the movie the way we wanted to deliver it if we made it in 3D. And they understood, and they were supportive. Funnily enough I think this last film will benefit more from the 3D than the first one would have. It‘s more epic and operatic. The first one was a more intimate film so 3D didn’t feel as germane. But ultimately, we’ve done 3D for the Blu-ray so Part One will be available in 3D in your home at some point.”
