Deathly Hallows Soundtrack one of 97 in the Running for Oscar

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II is one 97 original scores that are eligible to be nominated for an Academy Award. The score was by Alexandre Desplat who is also in the running with Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and The Ides of March. To be eligible, the original score must be a substantial body of music that serves as original dramatic underscoring, and must be written specifically for the motion picture by the submitting composer. Scores diluted by the use of tracked themes or other preexisting music, diminished in impact by the predominant use of songs, or assembled from the music of more than one composer shall not be eligible.

The 84th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Sean Biggerstaff to Appear in The Wicker Man; You’re Bard Video

Sean Biggerstaff, Oliver Wood in the Potter films, is set to star in The National Theatre of Scotland production based on The Wicker Man.  The play opens at His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen on 21st February before touring Scotland.  An Appointment with The Wicker Man, directed by Vicky Featherstone, is an all-singing-and-dancing love letter to a unique and timeless cult masterpiece. The schedule is as follows:

  • His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen from 21st to 25th February 2012
  • Theatre Royal Glasgow from 28th February to 3rd March 2012
  • Eden Court, Inverness from 6th to 10th March 2012
  • The Alhambra, Dunfermline from 21st to 24th March 2012

Digital Spy Readers Vote Deathly Hallows Part 2 as Best Movie of 2011

A short while ago Digital Spy asked their readers to vote on their favorite films of 2011 and those votes are now in!  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II has been voted as the best film with 25% of the vote! Coming in behind the final Potter film are The Inbetweeners Movie – 13.1%, The King’s Speech – 11.5%, Bridesmaids – 10.0%, and Black Swan – 5.8%.

Deathly Hallows in Empire Online’s Top 20 Movies of 2011

Empire Online has released their list of the Top 10 Movies of 2011 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II comes in at Number 4! The films are chosen by Empire’s writers and contributors and includes a wide range of films from Fast Five to Drive to The King’s Speech.

Vote for your Favorite Ghost Story from The Woman in Black YouTube Competition

Today, Daniel Radcliffe is asking fans to vote for their favourite ghost story from the ten shortlisted final entries of THE WOMAN IN BLACK ghost story competition that launched this past Halloween. The 10 final videos may be seen in this YouTube playlist. To vote head to The Woman in Black YouTube Page and click “Cast Your Vote” A video of Daniel asking fans to vote has been released and may be watched below:

Launched on Halloween (31st October 2011) the competition challenged budding writers to submit their own original short story to the official YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/thewomaninblackmovie) for a chance to win a trip to attend the Worldwide Premiere of THE WOMAN IN BLACK on 24th January 2012. In addition, the winning entry will be read out by Daniel Radcliffe and included in the bonus features of THE WOMAN IN BLACK DVD.

The competition was a resounding success with a 177 harrowing, haunting tales submitted that have now been whittled down to ten finalists. The stories shortlisted for the final ten were selected on the following judging criteria: creativity, originality and writing style.

Votes for the best video commences from 21st December, with voting closing at 23:59 on January 5th, 2012. The winner will be announced on 6th of January, 2012.

THE WOMAN IN BLACK will be released across the UK and Ireland by Momentum Pictures, an Alliance Films company, on 10th February 2012 and in the United States on February 3rd.
