Lincoln Center Comments on JK Rowling Ticketing Error
Posted by Megs

As we posted last night (and updated throughout the morning,) Lincoln Center started selling tickets for JK Rowling’s Live Chat 12 hours early. Today the venue has commented on the situation by saying:

Due to technical difficulties on the ticketing website, tickets for the J. K. Rowling event on 10/16/12 were made available prematurely at 10 pm on September 9th. Tickets then went on sale at the previously announced time of 10 am on September 10th. Jazz at Lincoln Center is in the process of investigating how this occurred and what arrangements may be made to honor each ticket purchased, and will provide an update as quickly as possible. Neither JK Rowling nor Little Brown and Company are responsible for this situation. Jazz at Lincoln Center apologizes for any inconvenience.

Hypable reports that, through calling the venue directly, “some representatives said that the tickets would be honored, while others were unsure and a few said that the Sunday night purchases were invalid.”  They also report that some seats may have been double-booked.  We will update again as soon as more information is available!

Tickets for JK Rowling’s NYC Event Go On Sale Early; Sold Out Online
Posted by Megs

UPDATE 7: Fans will need to repurchase tickets

UPDATE 6: Event moved to new location

UPDATE 5: Lincoln Center Releases Update

UPDATE 4: (10:25) The website now says “We’re Sorry! Tickets are no longer available online for this event. Please contact our box office to get up-to-the-minute ticket availability information.” The numbers for the box office are at the bottom of this post. Keep checking the site though, tickets may keep popping back up throughout the day!

UPDATE 3: (10:20) There is a new purchasing link for the tickets: click here to buy!

UPDATE 2: It is now 10:13 am and I just checked the website to see if tickets were back online. As of right now I am still getting an error message when trying to select tickets. I will keep checking and let you know when they are back. Be sure to follow our Twitter as well for updates!

UPDATE: Thanks to the Little Brown Company (J.K. Rowling’s publisher) we can confirm that tickets will still be available at the Lincoln Center Box office and over the phone, starting at 10am, as we predicted last night. It also seems that they caught on to the glitch last night and stopped offering tickets before the event sold out completely. They should be online at 10am.

Tickets for J.K. Rowling’s chat with Ann Patchett in New York City went on sale 12 hours early, much to fans delight (and dismay for some.) After a little over an hour the tickets are sold out. Though the site says there are 8 tickets left, fans are met with an error when trying to purchase tickets.

Tickets were supposed to be available for purchase from 10am on September 10th.  Fans can only hope that the folks at Lincoln Center reserved a certain number of tickets for those who wanted to purchase by phone or in person at Lincoln Center. About 1200 people can be fit into the Rose Theater, where the event is taking place.

The event will be held at 8pm on Tuesday, October 18th.  During the chat she will talk about her new book, The Casual Vacancy, out September 27th.  She will also be taking a few questions from the audience.  The book is included with your ticket and, according to Fox News, J.K. will be signing copies of the book. As of yet it is not known how this will work.

Were you able to snag tickets?!  Luckily I was able to, but there is another problem with ticketing. Some seat numbers can possibly be in two or even three sections. I am currently trying to find out how fans can figure out whether they are sitting in the Balcony, Mezzanine, or Orchestra section and will update if/when I find out.

Ticketing information in case you missed it the first time around:

  • $43 if purchased online
  • $44 if purchased via phone:
    CenterCharge: 212.721.6500
    TTY: 212.957.1709
    Open daily 10:00 am–9:00 pm
  • $37 if purchased at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office:
    Broadway at 60th Street
    Monday–Saturday: 10:00 am–6:00 pm, Sunday: noon–6:00 pm

Magical Menagerie Reviews Harry Potter Wizards Collection
Posted by Megs

Our UK correspondent, Patrick, was able to review the Harry Potter Wizards Collection. Photos of the set may be seen in the gallery. We have posted additional photos of the set in the gallery as well.

“There has always been one flaw in my claim of being one of the biggest Harry Potter fans; I have the wand and the uniform, I have the read the books at least seven times each, and I even flew from my native Australia to London to stand in Trafalgar Square with friends and fans alike at the final premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two. However there has always been something I was missing, and it was the DVD’s and there was a reason; The Wizards Collection is that reason.

I knew early on that come the end of the Film franchise, a complete box set would be released, a collection of all the films, in one complete package. It was inevitable that as the years would go on the technology would change, like the introduction of Blu Ray, and that the artwork and design would change, such as the Ultimate Editions, and I knew I would want a single collection that was complete in content and complete in design. And the Wizards Collection gives me that.”
