There is a new interview with David Yates online now.
Next time around [Half-Blood Prince], Mr Yates hints that he is really going to enjoy himself. “The next movie is less intense on one level. It’s more sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll, I would say.”
Emma says: “It was really lovely because David listened to what we had to say about our characters. He was respectful of the fact that we have been playing these people for five films now.”
Dan says: I think he managed to take the charm and visual flare of the earlier films and add his own sense of grit, that perhaps was not there before. He is a delightful man, very soft-spoken. Yet I have never been pushed as hard as I was on this film, partly because of the nature of the story, and partly because of his directing. He always wanted me to go deeper.

According to Veritaserum over 7,000 girls showed up for the Lavender Brown Open Casting call I told you about a while ago.
After waiting for hours in line outside, the girls were seen by two Harry Potter casting directors in groups of 30. They said their name, age, and an interesting fact about themselves while holding up a large whiteboard with their name written on it. Some groups were dismissed entirely, while one or two girls in other groups were asked to proceed to the next round.
At the next round, the girls read from a scene with Hermione, Madam Pomfrey, and Lavender (presumably after Ron’s near-death experience in Slughorn’s office) from the Half-Blood Prince script for about a minute. There were no further rounds at today’s auditions. Those few girls who will make it to the third round of call backs will find out within the next two to three days
Thanks Veritaserum!

Postal workers at Royal Mail are threatening a series of walkouts in a dispute over pay, and this may interfere with the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. So Royal Mail chiefs are using this in negotiations with postal union leaders to ask them not to disrupt deliveries of the book.
Royal Mail human resources director Kevin Green has sent a letter to the Union that says; “J.K. Rowling’s book, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, is due to be released on Friday, July 20, for delivery on July 21, and we will be providing a next-day delivery service for many major book retailers. I am sure the CWU will not want to be the cause for the final book not getting to its readers. I would urge you to ensure that there is no strike action in the week of the launch.”
