BBC has confirmed that their Strike series starring Holliday Grainger and Tom Burke will be returning to bring the fourth novel, Lethal White, to televisions everywhere! It will be four episodes long and will air on BBC One.
Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama, says: “We are delighted to announce that the Strike series will return to BBC One with Lethal White. J.K. Rowling, once more in the guise of Robert Galbraith, has delivered another brilliant, knotty and original crime story. We are honoured to be working with Jo and once more with Holliday and Tom as Robin and Strike, to bring this hit series back to BBC One.”
When Billy, a troubled young man, comes to private eye Cormoran Strike’s office to ask for his help investigating a crime he thinks he witnessed as a child, Strike is left deeply unsettled. While Billy is obviously mentally distressed and cannot remember many concrete details, there is something sincere about him and his story.
Strike and Robin set off on a twisting trail that leads them through the backstreets of London, into a secretive inner sanctum within Parliament and to a beautiful but sinister manor house deep in the countryside.
A first look at the Strike series has been released by BBC and The Associated Press. Strike is based on the Cormoran Strike novels and will be premiering August 27th at 9pm on BBC One ! The series stars Tom Burke as Cormoran Strike and Holliday Grainger as Robin Ellacott. The first three episodes are based on The Cuckoo’s Calling, Galbraith’s first novel in the series.
Strike, the series based on Robert Galbraith’s Cormoran Strike novels will be premiering on BBC One this month! The series stars Tom Burke as Cormoran Strike and Holliday Grainger as Robin Ellacott. The first three episodes are based on The Cuckoo’s Calling, Galbraith’s first novel in the series. It is unknown when the show will premiere in the United States, but we do know that it will air on HBO at some point in the future.
Variety is reporting that Holliday Grainger has been cast as Robin Ellacott in The Strike Series that will be airing on BBC and HBO. Holliday will star alongside Tom Burke as Cormoran Strike. Fans may know her as one of the step-sisters in Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella, Bonnie in Bonnie & Clyde and more.
Of the casting, Grainger says: “I’m thrilled to be joining the talented creative team behind ‘The Strike Series,’ especially with the role of Robin Ellacott. Her grounded strength and intelligence is going to be a joy to explore. I can’t wait to dive straight into the wit and grit of Strike’s cannily well-observed London.”
Rowling also commented by saying, “I couldn’t be more delighted about the casting of Holliday Grainger, who brought my Robin to perfect onscreen life during her audition. We’ve now secured two superb actors in the lead roles and I think they will create something very special together.”
Deadline reports that HBO has acquired the rights for BBC One’s adaption of J.K. Rowling’s Cormoran Strike series. We reported a rumor of this partnership back in November of last year.
Tom Burke will star as the detective in Cormoran Strike, which will air as three separate event series, the three-hour The Cuckoo’s Calling, two-hour The Silkworm and two-hour Career Of Evil. Jo also confirmed via Twitter that Robin Ellacott has been cast but left us in suspense as to who it will be.
J.K. Rowling executive produces the series and two writers have worked on the episodes. Ben Richards wrote The Cuckoo’s Calling and The Silkworm, and Tom Edge wrote Career of Evil. Michael Keillor will direct The Cuckoo’s Calling. Filming starts this fall in London.
