Rupert Grint Making Broadway Debut in ‘It’s Only a Play’
Posted by Megs

Playbill reports that Rupert Grint will be making his Broadway debut alongside Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Megan Mullally and Stockard Channing in It’s Only a Play. “I’m thrilled to be making my Broadway debut alongside this amazing cast and creative team,” Grint said in a statement.

In It’s Only a Play, according to producers, “it’s opening night of Peter Austin’s (Broderick) new play as he anxiously awaits to see if his show is a hit. With his career on the line, he shares his big First Night with his best friend, a television star (Lane), his fledgling producer (Mullally), his erratic leading lady (Channing), his wunderkind director (Grint), an infamous drama critic, and a wide-eyed coat check attendant on his first night in Manhattan. It’s alternately raucous, ridiculous and tender — reminding audiences why there’s no business like show business. Thank God!”

Tickets for It’s Only a Play are available by visiting Telecharge.com. For groups of 20 or more, call (855) 329-2932.

Rupert Grint Talks About Strange Freebies & His Ice Cream Truck
Posted by Megs

In a new interview with Film-News, Rupert Grint discusses some rather interesting topics, like walking out of a 3D movie, receiving free ketchup, and his inability to cook.

When asked the last time he’s walked out of a movie, Rupert told Empire magazine: “It was Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3D. “I couldn’t handle it. It was too much. I think I was a bit hungover, and maybe it was the 3D thing. I was in the Isle of Man as well, so it was quite a strange place.”

The 25-year-old has enjoyed the many perks of fame and admits it’s been a while since he’s worried about money. Occasionally, he even receives some odd freebies. “Oh, I got a can of Heinz soup with my name on it. It said, ‘Get well soon, Rupert.’ I wasn’t even sick. I was perfectly fine,” he recalled. “It was from a charity, they’re doing a personalised soup campaign and it just turned up. I haven’t had it yet. It lasts for ages, doesn’t it, soup'”

It might be that Rupert simply doesn’t know how to heat the soup up. The redhead admits that he’s not a dab hand when it comes to the kitchen. “I don’t cook,” he insisted. “But I have an ice cream van and I’ve perfected the 99 [soft ice cone]. It’s got the machine, which is tricky. It’s a complicated wrist action to get the perfect whip.” Rupert added that he doesn’t keep the van stocked though and that it’s “the worst thing” when kids start queuing up, expecting a frozen treat.

Rupert Grint Talks Postman Pat & His Career Post-Potter
Posted by Megs

In a new interview with HeyUGuys, Rupert Grint talks about his experiences post-Harry Potter and how he decides what projects to take on next.

“I quite like variety and doing something different each time,” he told us. “The decisions are just based on good scripts and the people involved. It’s fun doing new things, and I’m just learning a lot. Although I was on Potter for all those years, you felt like you were in a bubble, those films were so unique I don’t think I’ll ever experience that scale and budget again. So it’s fun to do it on a smaller scale, and I find it much more intimate and it’s good. I’m enjoying it.”

He also talks about his newest film, Postman Pat: The Movie, out today in the UK:

“Postman Pat was a big part of my childhood, and it was one of my favourite shows,” he said. “I said yes to this before I’d even read the script, it was an easy decision. It’s a real honour to be a part of it. I used to absolutely love Postman Pat, it’s quite surreal. But it’s a very different Pat to the one I knew, these aren’t the wooden, stop-motion puppets, this is a modern, computer generated animation. Which is good, that Postman Pat has moved into the 21st century, it’s cool.”

Pat has been on television now for over 30 years, and has somehow managed to maintain that appeal to generations of different children. Now, as we build up towards his debut feature film, Grint explains what it is about Postman Pat that is just so special.

“It’s quite unique for a character to have that longevity, I mean, he’s still on TV now. For me, it was the fact he was just a regular guy. It was an achievable goal, you could become a postman. Making a hero out of that was really cool. Fireman Sam, too.”

Rupert Grint Talks Postman Pat with BBC
Posted by Megs

In a new interview with BBC’s Newsbeat, Rupert Grint talks about his newest film, Postman Pat. He first says that Pat is a bigger icon than Harry Potter because, “Harry’s more international but I think he [Pat] is a bit more distinctive.”

Of his singing he says: “I’m not convinced it’s me,” he laughs. It is quite an easy, catchy song but I just did it because I thought it would be quite fun but they have obviously done some kind of auto-tuning.”

He also discusses the differences between live and animated films: “It’s quite hard to realistically interact with an actor that isn’t there, especially if they haven’t done their bit yet,” he admits. “You’re kind of hearing someone’s voice and it’s strange but I quite like that challenge.”
