Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Launches Year 5, New Characters, Classes & Adventures
Posted by Megs

Today, players can head back to school in the mobile game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery with the commencement of Year 5 content in the game, beginning the most exciting year at Hogwarts yet, with a host of new mysteries to unravel. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the first mobile game where players can create their own character and experience life as a Hogwarts student. From the press release:

In Year 5, players return to Hogwarts for their most rigorous year of studies yet, and important milestones in the curriculum. Players that earned their prefect badge in Year 4 will take on the responsibilities of the role, while enjoying access to a new location in the game, the prefect’s bathroom. But all Year 5 students are faced with an even bigger test than earning the badge:  taking their Ordinary Wizarding Levels (O.W.L.) exams.

As Year 5 unfolds, players will head into new territory – and mischief – exploring decidedly dodgy areas like Knockturn Alley. Back on school grounds, players will learn from new professors like the lauded, but legendarily long-winded History of Magic Professor, Cuthbert Binns and the identity of the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor will be revealed. Outside of classes, players will cross paths with more members of the Weasley clan and other familiar characters from the Wizarding World.

Quote:    “Year 5 is a pivotal year for any student at Hogwarts, with the O.W.L. exams looming, new professors to navigate, and for some, a prefect badge on their robes,” said Amanda Heaton, Executive Producer at Jam City. “We wanted to reflect the rigors of this year in the mobile game, balanced of course, with the core extra-curricular activity at Hogwarts: unraveling mysterious with your school mates. Year 5 brings the most robust year of content yet to the game, and we’re excited for players to start this new chapter.”

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Introduces New Feature!
Posted by Megs

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, Portkey Games’ new mobile game, gives players the opportunity to create a character, and attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a student, attending classes, making friends, earning House Points, and of course, solving mysteries! The game is set in the 1980s, seven years before Harry Potter’s first day at Hogwarts. Players will explore the halls and grounds of the school, and meet both new characters — like your Slytherin nemesis in the game, Merula – and beloved characters from the books and films like Dumbledore, Snape, Flitwick, McGonagall, Hagrid and many more.

Today they’re introducing a new feature to the game: pets!

From the adorable boarhound puppy, Fang, to the feisty but devoted feline, Mrs. Norris, pets are a beloved part of life at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Starting today, players of the mobile game, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, can have critters of their own! Selecting between the popular picks of Owl, Rat, Cat and Toad, players can now choose a pet to join them in their adventures as a student at Hogwarts.

Players can own up to four pets in the game, one of each kind, which will lounge and nap in their house dormitory. Equipping one animal friend at time, a pet can join players at locations around Hogwarts and its grounds. In addition to companionship, pets provide players with an energy boost when they’re awoken from slumber.

With today’s addition, players can join the likes of pet-loving Hagrid and Mr. Filch, gaining a friendly animal friend to join them in their exploration of Hogwarts and their new dormitories.

First Trailer for New Mobile Game ‘Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery’
Posted by Megs

Another new Harry Potter mobile game has been announced by Pottermore this morning. This new game, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, gives you the opportunity to experience life as a Hogwarts student! You can pre-register to play on the official website! You can also follow on Facebook and Twitter for updates.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the first game in which players can create their own character and experience life as a Hogwarts student. The game will launch under Portkey Games, a new label dedicated to creating experiences inspired by the magic and adventures of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.

According to Pottermore:

The mobile game – part of the new label Portkey Games, from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment – will invite you to join Hogwarts in the 1980s, and will feature many of your favourite things from the Harry Potter stories. These include spells, classes, characters and much more. Although at this point Harry wouldn’t have been old enough to be at the school himself, we think you may recognise a few former students and staff – from Nymphadora Tonks to Bill Weasley to Professor McGonagall.

The role-playing experience will invite you to create your own personalised student avatar, and make key decisions that will impact your story. The trailer wisely reminds us of Dumbledore’s words: ‘It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.’

As the game continues, so will your Hogwarts education, your magical skills and relationships with other characters, so make sure to make every decision count. In other words – don’t choose a Crabbe and Goyle-style path, eh?

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will be available via the App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Appstore in 2018.
