Today on the College Jeopardy Championships there were 2 questions that I pretty much screamed out the answer, and I am all alone in my room (yea..I’m weird). I tried to remember the wording as best I could! But you get the idea.
Question: She voiced Princess Pea in the Tale of Desperaux, and oh yea Hermione in a few of the Harry Potter’s Answer: Emma Watson
Question: In 2009, she was valued at $1 billion by Forbes. Author! Author! Answer: JK Rowling
JKRowling.com has seen some interesting changes to its content! The Diary Section is now called “Everything you might want to Know.” There are also new links and books on the links page! There may be more changes to come, so we will have to keep checking back!
Craig Ferguson did a sketch on his Late Late Show last week parodying J.K. Rowling interviewing Stephenie Meyer. It is quite amusing if I do say so myself, ha ha.
If you remember, back in July I posted about a chair JK Rowling used to write some of Harry Potter being put up for auction. The chair has now sold and it ended at £19,555.00!
Congratulations to whoever won and I hope that it is a good home with someone who really appreciates it!
It is now July 31st in the UK so we should wish a very happy birthday to both Harry Potter and his creator JK Rowling!
Harry is turning 29 years old and works in the Ministry of Magic. He also is married to the lovely Ginny and has 3 children; James Sirius, Albus Severus and Lily Luna!
JK Rowling is celebrating her 44th birthday. She is still writing, is married to Neil and also has 3 children; Jessica Isabel, David Gordon and Mackenzie Jean!
A chair that J.K. Rowling wrote Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets on is going be re-auctioned to benefit Books Abroad, a charity that sends free school books to impoverished countries. It was originally auctioned by Chair-ish a Child for the NSPCC in 2002 and it sold for £15,000.
Matthew Ford, the art dealer organising the sale, said: “It’s a chair you’d pay a tenner for in a junk shop but, historically, it’s the most important chair in Muggledom, and probably one of the most exceptional and rare pieces of Harry Potter memorabilia ever likely to be offered for sale. “To a Harry Potter fan this is as good as it gets. It is part of the story, part of JK Rowling’s story. Whoever wins it is buying a piece of literary history.”
Proving its authenticity, the chair comes complete with a special Owl Mail signed by Rowling and addressed to the ‘new owner of my chair’. The letter explains that she was given four mismatched dining room chairs in 1995 and, because it was the most comfortable, it was this one that ended up at her desk in front of her typewriter. The author finishes off the letter with the comment: “My nostalgic side is sad to see you go but my back isn’t.”
You can place a bid on the chair here and the auction ends on Sunday the 26th! It is currently at £4,500.00 (if only I were rich).
