Potter: Top 50 Kids’ movies for adults
Posted by Megs

Times Online has posted a list of the Top 50 Kids’ movies for adults, and of course, Harry Potter has made the list.

23 Harry Potter (2001-present) J. K. Rowling’s books were famously devoured by both kids and adults, and the films continued the trend, especially later installments, when the Children of Men director Alfonso Cuaron and State of Play’s David Yates injected teen angst and political intrigue.

Also on the list are a few of my personal favorites (I like a lot more than these so I’m just putting a few): Up, Toy Story, The Princess Bride, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Wizard of Oz, The Lion King, Bedknobs and Broomsticks

Potter Watch: Movies airing on TV soon
Posted by Megs

A few of the Potter films will be airing on television at various times this month. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was already on ABC last Saturday.  Coming next is Chamber of Secrets this coming Saturday, February 13th, on ABC at 8pm EST.  Then we have Prisoner of Azkaban airing the next Saturday, February 20th at 8pm EST, also on ABC.

I assume that Goblet of Fire will be airing on ABC as well, but it’s not on tvguide.com’s listings yet.

Finally, thanks to SnitchSeeker, we know that Order of the Phoenix will make its network tv debut on ABC on Saturday February 27th.

“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Ralph Fiennes, Maggie Smith and Harry Melling, airs as the “ABC Saturday Movie of the Week,” FEBRUARY 27 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. The film, winner of two People’s Choice Awards, will be broadcast in HDTV format with 5.1-channel surround sound and Spanish audio via SAP.

Hey guys!  Some fun news for everyone, well it’s not really that exciting but I love it.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will be playing on abc at 8pm EST. Check your listings for the time in your area.

I don’t know about you, but even though I have all the movies on DVD I watch them EVERY time they are on television just because.

Dobby: Most Downtrodden (Yet Inspiring) Characters In Movie History
Posted by Megs

Dobby has been named a Most Downtrodden (Yet Inspiring) Characters In Movie History by Empire Online.

Why he’s so miserable: It may have been largely excised from the filmed versions, but in the Harry Potter universe house elves like Dobby are essentially slaves, in that they work without pay and without possibility of release except by their master’s say-so. That may be alright if you work somewhere fairly cuddly, like the Hogwarts kitchens (where the elves are largely bemused by Hermione and her Society for the Promotion of Elvish Welfare), but if you work for the Malfoys you can count on regular beatings, semi-starvation, verbal abuse and having to cater to dark wizards.
Why he’s inspiring: Dobby’s best efforts quite often bring disaster on their intended beneficiary (usually Harry Potter), but you can’t fault him for doing everything he can to protect The Boy Who Lived from a clear and present danger – and he does it at considerable risk to himself. Dobby continues to play a heroic role throughout the series, always putting the welfare of others before his own, and plays a role out of all proportion to his size.
