Emma Watson recently discussed her new haircut in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
She’s not Hermione anymore. Emma Watson — the 20-year-old actress who has portrayed Harry Potter’s studious BFF, Hermione Granger, in six films over the past decade — has shorn off her character’s long tresses in favor of a short pixie haircut. “Oh my God, it was the most liberating thing!” she tells EW.com. “The stylist just grabbed the back of my hair and took a whole ponytail of hair out. It felt amazing. I love it.” The chic, gamine cut, created by New York stylist Rodney Cutler of Cutler Salon and seen in this exclusive Polaroid from EW’s upcoming Fall Movie Preview issue, might not seem like a huge deal to most 20-year-olds. But Watson has had to sport essentially the same hairstyle for ten years while she played Hermione. “I missed all that experimentation that most teenagers go through,” she says. “I’ve wanted to do this since I was about 16, so as soon as I had the chance I was like, ‘Right. This is it.’” Watson, who’s about to enter her sophomore year at Brown University, finished shooting the final two Potter movies this summer
Also, Emma is in New York doing some photoshoots for Deathly Hallows promotion. The magazines featuring her will likely be coming out in November for the release of Deathly Hallows. One cover we know about so far is Marie Claire magazine via their Twitter. (luckily, I just got a free years subscription to the magazine so we’ll have scans before the magazine hits stands)
As of this moment, I don’t know what other magazines Emma will be featured in, but it is safe to assume there will be a few.
As many of you might be aware, last night some new candid photos of Emma Watson appeared online showing that the actress drastically changed her hair. I didn’t post those photos because I felt they were invasion of privacy. But now Emma has confirmed via her Twitter that “Yes, I cut my hair off a few days ago! I love it- feels incredible. Hope you like it!”.
This also comes with a new photoshoot photo that you can see below.
One Night Only have released a new behind-the-scenes look at the making of their music video for “Say You Don’t Want It” that featured Emma Watson. In the video Emma and George Craig explained the theme of the story, which was based off of Lady and the Tramp.
According to the folks at Great Fridays who made Emma’s Official Site, the Hermione actress now has an Official Twitter Account! Her first tweet is as follows:
Hi everyone, this is the real me! I won’t be able to tweet often but I just wanted to say hello. Have a great summer, love Emma x
This isn’t totally confirmed, but I am treating it as true until we hear otherwise.
UPDATE: This has been confirmed, again, by Rob Noble, who works on Emma’s Official site.
