JKR talks Beedle the Bard Books
Posted by Megs

There is lots more information out about the seven books mentioned in the last news post. So here it all is:

From JKRs site:

Each of the seven copies of “The Tales of Beedle the Bard” has a different dedication; all are leather-bound and embellished with silver and different semi-precious stones. The seventh book (the Moonstone edition) will be auctioned at Sotheby’s in London on December 13th 2007. The book will be on display to the public for a short period before the sale, and catalogues will be sold, all profits going to the Children’s Voice.

From Sotheby’s:

A special commemorative catalogue for this unique item is being produced and will be available to purchase from Sotheby’s. The 48 page commemorative catalogue contains a message from the author about the creative inception of ‘The Tales of Beedle the Bard’ plus images from the manuscript itself.  The prices of the catalogue are as follows:

US Domestic: 16.00 USD
US Int’l: 16.00 USD
UK Domestic: 8.00 GBP
UK Int’l: 8.00 GBP

1st Edition Philosopher's Stone breaks Record
Posted by Megs

A rare first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone has sold for £19,700 at auction. (for us Americans that is $40,355.88).  For those of you that do not know, the first book was only printed 500 times for the first printing.

The auction also featured an uncorrected publisher’s proof copy of the book, produced for internal use and promotion, and with “JA Rowling” printed in error on the title page. It went for £2,250.

A paperback and hardback edition of the second book in the series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, both signed by the author, one with the inscription “To Ella – I know your Mum!!! And she beat me in the quiz but we won’t mention that – love from Jo (aka JK Rowling)”, sold for £1,250.

Deathly Hallows Chapter Avatars
Posted by Megs

I finally got around to making my Deathly Hallows chapter avatars, to go with the rest from the other books. I didn’t do all the chapters, only the ones where the picture and title went well together, so there are 16 of them.

Go HERE to see them! And HERE for all the Chapter Avatars.

Comment please! They are pretty simple, but I like them.
