The first trailer for the live action version of Beauty and the Beast has been released by Disney this morning. The film, which stars Emma Watson as Belle, will be released on March 17 2017.

Beauty and the Beast also stars Dan Stevens as Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Josh Gad as Le Fou, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, Audra McDonald as Garderobe, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts.

Tonight, actress Sarah Jessica Parker presented J.K. Rowling with the 2016 Pen/Allen Foundation Literary Service Award. The video may be watched below starting at 1 hour and 40 minutes, the embed should start at that point.

J.K. Rowling has used her talents and stature as a writer to fight inequality on both a local and global level. Herself the frequent object of censorship in schools and libraries across the globe, as well as online targeting, Rowling has emerged as a vocal proponent of free expression and access to literature and ideas for children, as well as incarcerated people, the learning-disabled, and women and girls worldwide.

J.K. Rowling will be attending a special gala performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two to benefit her children’s organisation Lumos on Sunday 18th September. Tickets are now available for auction on Givergy. The tickets are being auctioned off in sets with additional incentives.

Lumos and the producers of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play are hosting a special gala performance of the new stage play to benefit the author’s children’s charity. J.K. Rowling will personally attend and introduce the play.

Tickets to see performances of both part one and part two of the play on Sunday 18th September in London’s West End, are now available by auction at givergy.com/charity/lumos They are combined with special prizes and experiences and are expected to sell out quickly. Thanks to the generosity of the play’s producers and Lumos’ 100% Pledge, every penny donated and raised in the auction will go directly to Lumos’ Families Not Orphanages Fund that will help children in the countries where Lumos works to leave orphanages and return to a family life. Donations do not go towards administration, fundraising or overhead costs of the organisation.

The special gala performance of both parts offers a unique opportunity to see the much-anticipated play introduced by J.K. Rowling, and is the first of several events yet to be announced for the autumn as part of the Lumos global We Are Lumos Worldwide campaign in the UK, United States, and around the world. The campaign invites people and groups all over the world to join a growing movement to end the harmful and unnecessary practice of placing children in orphanages.

An estimated eight million children around the world live in orphanages and institutions, despite 80% having at least one living parent that could care for them with some support.

Georgette Mulheir, CEO of Lumos said: “Intuitively, we know that children need families to thrive, but it’s the decades of evidence that shows us the profound harm that being deprived of a family life and placed in an orphanage can do to a child’s intellectual, physical and psychological development.

The WB Studio Tour Facebook shared a few videos of Fiona Shaw at a special preview event of Privet Drive at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London last night. The Privet Drive set will be open to the public from May 27th – June 6th.

For a limited time only, as part of our celebrations of the 15th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone film release, we are offering you the chance to step inside number four, Privet Drive and peer into the Dursleys’ living room. Hundreds of Harry’s Hogwarts letters created by MinaLima, the graphic designers for all eight Harry Potter films, will be suspended in the air as though they’ve flown through the fireplace!

Also on display for the first time will be the Dursleys’ costumes which proved to be a rich source of inspiration for Costume Designer Judianna Makovsky. She remembers them being the most fun to dress, creating clothes that appeared out of date and pretentious for Mr and Mrs Dursley, as well as hideous jumpers for young Dudley.

In addition to the opening of number four, Privet Drive, we will be showcasing the equipment that was used to shoot Harry’s Hogwarts letters through the letterbox. The machine, which was specially created for the film by award winning Special Effects Supervisor John Richardson, will be on display in the Studio Tour during the feature between 27th May – 6th June.

We can’t believe it, but Magical-Menagerie launched TEN YEARS AGO today. Back then we were called Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titilandus, DDNT for short, good thing we changed the name a year later, what a mouthful! Take a trip down memory lane and look at our first layout, HAH! P.S. Did you know you can still switch layouts? The default is Deathly Hallows 1 but we still have Deathly Hallows 2, Half-Blood Prince and Order of the Phoenix working! Although there may be a few bugs on the last 2!

When we say we, it’s actually just me, Megan, the founder/owner/only staff member. I started this site in my senior year of high school after taking an HTML class and I’m so glad to see how it has grown over the years. Since then I have started the best *wink wink* Matthew Lewis fan site and made a career out of being online.

Since starting the website, we have been to multiple Potter premieres, the Grand Opening of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour and attended many events at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I’ve also had to “force” a few friends to go to events for the site when I couldn’t take the time off to fly, they were so upset. 😉 News may have wavered over the years but, now that we have Fantastic Beasts and Cursed Child, I have a feeling it will go back to the good old days of multiple news stories every day!
