We’re just over a month away from Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opening at Universal Orlando Resort! On June 13th park attendees can ride along with Hagrid during Care of Magical Creatures class in the Forbidden Forest where they’ll encounter several magical creatures that we revealed last month! Take a look at the Hagrid Animatronic featured in the ride:
Universal Orlando Resort has created its most life-like animated figure for the most highly themed, immersive coaster experience yet, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure – opening June 13. And it’s none other than Hogwarts gamekeeper and Care of Magical Creatures professor himself – Hagrid.
Guests will come face-to-face with Hagrid during their journey as his hyper-realistic animated figure tries to contain his beloved Blast-Ended Skrewt. The gentle half-giant will guide guests through their adventure into the Forbidden Forest as they encounter some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures.
Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and Hagrid’s animated figure are being brought to life by Universal Creative, the team responsible for creating Universal’s iconic rides and attractions. The team spent thousands of hours creating Hagrid’s animated figure with a level of detail that has never been done before, working alongside actor Robbie Coltrane – who portrays Hagrid in the Harry Potter film series – to develop the most advanced and realistic animated figure of its kind.
No details were spared when precisely replicating Hagrid for this new experience. Every detail about Hagrid is authentic to what has been featured in the Harry Potter film series – all the way down to his iconic pink umbrella.
• The animated figure features an extensive motion profile of 24 different body movements and facial expressions, mimicking Robbie Coltrane’s exact motions as Hagrid from the Harry Potter film series • A digital scan of Robbie Coltrane’s mouth was used to create Hagrid’s teeth • Hagrid’s entire face was meticulously sculpted by hand • Hagrid’s costume was designed by the same team that created his on-screen wardrobe • Robbie Coltrane recorded a custom script for Hagrid in this new adventure • And the height of the animated figure is 7 feet 6 inches tall – exactly proportional to Hagrid in the Harry Potter film series.
“Hagrid is such an iconic character and an integral part of the Harry Potter franchise, so we were excited to develop a truly innovative and authentic animated figure to bring him to life for this experience,” said Thierry Coup, Senior Vice President of Universal Creative. “We worked tirelessly to make sure Hagrid’s full essence was captured with the utmost attention to detail for our guests to feel completely immersed in this all-new adventure.”
The third film in the Fantastic Beasts franchise has been given an official release date of November 12, 2021. It is the midway point of a five film series following the rise and fall of Gellert Grindelwald.
The news was announced today by Ron Sanders, President of Worldwide Theatrical Distribution and Home Entertainment.
‘J.K. Rowling created an awe-inspiring universe that has captivated people of all ages, taking us on an extraordinary magical journey,’ he said. ‘Warner Bros. is so proud to be the cinematic home of the Wizarding World and is excited about the future of the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise. We look forward to bringing the third chapter of the five-film series to audiences around the globe in November 2021.’
Toby Emmerich, Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group added, ‘We are incredibly excited about and have confidence in the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ series. We all believe this release date will give the filmmakers time and space to allow their artistry to truly flourish and deliver the best possible film to our fans.’
Production for the film isn’t set to begin until Spring 2020 so we have quite a ways to go before any other news is released.
For their last day of creature reveals, Universal Orlando Resort went all out with a never before seen (on screen) creature – the Blast-Ended Skrewt!!! (we were right!) Blast-Ended Skrewts were bred by Hagrid and showed to the students in Goblet of Fire.
On June 13, 2019, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventurewill join the lineup of award-winning entertainment experiences in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort and bring an all-new adventure inspired by J.K. Rowling’s beloved stories to life. Guests will join Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures class and fly deep into the Forbidden Forest aboard magical motorbikes to brave the mysteries and thrills beyond the grounds of Hogwarts castle to find some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures.
Known as the “Blast-Ended Skrewt,” this unique creature will be one of the most life-like animated figures Universal Orlando has ever created and was brought to life for the first time ever for this new adventure. Described as a cross between a giant scorpion and an elongated crab, this creature was created by Hagrid – one of the most beloved characters in the Harry Potter films and the guide of this new experience. During their journey, guests will come face-to-face (or face-to-rear) for the first time ever with the “Blast-Ended Skrewt” and its dangerous ‘blasting end.’ Here’s some fast facts about what you can expect from this rare magical creature: – Fire ignites from its ‘blasting-end’ – so be cautious – Measures eight ft. long, features a ten-foot tall tail with a massive stinger and weighs more than 6,000 pounds – Produces a very powerful and signature odor created specifically for this distinctive creature – Blast-Ended Skrewts were first introduced in Harry Potter and the Goblet of , and were also mentioned in Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Guests will also encounter other rare magical creatures along their journey, including a majestic Centaur, a swarm of mischievous Cornish pixies, Fluffy, the three-headed dog and more.
It’s day four of Universal Orlando Resort’s creature reveals for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure! Today’s creature is the mystical, sky-loving centaur.
A Centaur is a magical creature with a human head, torso and arms, joined to a horse’s body. They are, however, their own species and should be treated with great respect.
As you make your way into the dark forest on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, look out for this mysterious archer in the distance ready to strike. He stands at 8 ft. tall, which would probably make him a great athlete in the Muggle world.
Check back for the final creature reveal tomorrow. This is one that’s not been seen in the Harry Potter films! A blast-ended skrewt, perhaps? What’s your guess?
It’s day three of Universal Orlando Resort’s creature reveals for Hagrid’s Magical Motorbike Adventure! Today’s “creature” is actually a plant – the Devil’s Snare!
While Devil’s Snare isn’t a creature, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mention this perilous plant from the wizarding world – often strangling people who touch it with its dexterous vines. Devil’s Snare flourishes in damp, dark environments and it has a strong dislike of light and fire – remember that for your journey!
Speaking of your journey, Devil’s Snare is one of the many challenges you’ll face on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. You may even find yourself entangled in a thicket of this dangerous plant but remember to remain calm! If you don’t, you may end up entangled in hundreds of its vines…
Universal has revealed a second creature fans will encounter on their new roller coaster, Hagrid’s Magical Motobrike Adventure!
Cornish pixies are electric blue tricksters who love to create mischief – often at the expense of others. These mischievous creatures fly, and have also been known to seize unwary humans by the ears and deposit them at the tops of tall trees and buildings – poor Neville Longbottom…
In Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, you’ll see these troublesome creatures wreaking havoc on an infamous blue car… and in places you may not expect. They’re about 13 inches tall and you’ll find more than 20 pixies throughout your adventure. Happy hunting!
