Rogue Runner Films have emailed today with two press releases concerning Tom Felton’s new short film White Other. The film also stars another Potter alum, Imelda Staunton (Umbridge). You can watch the trailer for the film, here!
There will be a gala performance of White Other in December of 2010. The director is hopeful a feature film will follow, with shooting to begin in 2012.
In the first press release the director (Dan Hartley, formerly a crew member on the Harry Potter set) talks about filming Harry Potter and casting this new film as a director. The second talks about the short film a bit more and its website.
In creating the website for White Other, Hartley states: “the inherent problem in generating interest in short films is their length. With this website we set out to create a lot of additional content, to give the audience an opportunity to explore the greater world of White Other.” In order to achieve this Hartley worked with a freelance social media consultant and graphic designers Marmalade-on-Toast to develop a creative website that would encourage audience interactivity. This leads visitors through a series of video clips, sound files and news reports, some of which are real and some fictional. If one can follow the trail of clues they are encouraged to become Facebook friends of Felton’s character Ray Marsden, which conceals a code that will enable them to watch the film for free.

Hero Complex have posted a mini interview with Tom Felton where he discusses actors he admires, Daniel Radcliffe in particular.
After the cameras were off, though, the lanky 23-year-old who grew up in the role of Draco Malfoy spoke a bit about the actors he admired, and right near the top of that list was Daniel Radcliffe, the good friend who plays Draco’s despised nemesis, the franchise’s title character.
“Daniel is someone I look up to massively, even though he’s two years younger than me. He treats the job serious, exceptionally so, and takes nothing for granted. He doesn’t think, ‘All right, I booked the first film, I’m going to bugger off to Tahiti for a month.’ He’s there, working during the breaks between films, doing acting classes, speech classes, whether it’s song and dance or whatever the next challenge. He’s always working to perfect his craft. At the same time, he has an exceptionally laid-back attitude on the set. … He remembers everybody’s name perfectly the first time he meets them. I’m somewhat the second or third time.”
Then, with a wink, the pride of Slytherin added: “He’d be a good salesman. He’s been talking about that for a few years, I’ve been putting him off that. I think he should stick with acting.”

The LA Times has updated with their latest edition of Hero Complex and it has some quotes from Daniel Radcliffe, David Heyman, Tom Felton and Steve Kloves.
Screenwriter Steve Kloves said that there technically is one glimpse of Hogwarts in the film but he’d rather not elaborate. “This moment would fall in the category of flashback,” said the writer who finishes the franchise having written scripts for seven of the eight films. “Revealing it may ruin a rather lovely — albeit small — moment of the movie.”
Radcliffe said treading past the stony floors of the well-used Hogwarts movie set in Watford, England, energized the cast during the production of the seventh and eighth films, which were made together in a shoot that began in February 2009 and did not wrap until mid-June of this year. “I think getting out was a marvelous thing for the story and for the look of the film,” he said. “This movie just looks different than the other ones. We’ve spent so much time at Hogwarts that it makes it fresh to go somewhere new on screen.”

The Daily Mail has posted a new interview with Tom Felton. He talks about the freedom he has now that Potter is over, being “famous”, debt, auditions and lots more.
Everyone wonders why none of the Potter cast made an even vague nod towards going off the rails having had immense fame and wealth thrust upon them at such a young age. Tom credits the very special working relationship with the Potter crew which keeps all the cast, even the Sirs and Dames who play the adults, on their feet.
‘We all feel pretty normal because most of us pretty much are, other than having to do this job and speak to the Press and promote films,’ he says. ‘If you have enough smoke going up your backside, eventually you will start to breathe it. But none of us put ourselves around people who are going to blow smoke.
‘The crew especially are the first people to whip us into shape and tell us that we are no one special. The banter is thick on Harry Potter and that has been crucial in keeping us down-to-earth.
‘If someone tried to take the hierarchy thing too seriously — for example, being lovely to producers but moaning to runners about the tea — that would not be accepted on Harry Potter; someone would pull you aside and have a word.’
Despite the cream of British talent working on the films, he says none of them pull rank. ‘We have been taught by the best in the business. Not only about acting but how to act with the crew.
