It has been 20 years since the first Harry Potter LEGO was launched and to celebrate LEGO has announced the Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons Collectors Edition set. The set retails for $249.99 and will be available for purchase at the LEGO store on September 2nd.
The detailed new set follows the adventures of Harry Potter and his friends, capturing some of the most iconic characters and moments in one, single stunning model. The set also includes several famous artifacts found in the Wizarding World over the last two decades.
Sitting proudly at the centre of the set is Harry’s loyal owl, Hedwig™, clutching the infamous Hogwarts letter. We have some exciting news on this eve of Back to Hogwarts day! LEGO announced a brand new set, created with help from James & Oliver Phelps, releasing tomorrow! The beautiful Diagon Alley LEGO set has an interactive element to it with the help of a mobile site and buildable QR codes.
The set is a little over a yard wide when lined up and comes with 14 minifigures of characters found in Diagon Alley throughout the series! There are interactive elements such as a hidden lever to trigger movement of the arm/hat of the statue in Weasley’s shop.
Marcos Bessa, LEGO Harry Potter Design Lead commented: “I love how faithful the final design is to the architectural details in the film. You can barely see some of these buildings zooming past your screen, but we tracked down different photographs from the sets – some of them from nearly 20 years ago – to make sure everything is spot on. Diagon Alley is the biggest set I’ve designed to-date and I am really proud of how it has come together.”

To celebrate the launch of the latest film in the Fantastic Beasts series, The Crimes of Grindelwald, LEGO have created seven Nifflers made out of LEGO bricks and put them out for display across London, Edinburgh and Cardiff. Each Niffler has been created using more than 11,000 LEGO bricks, and weighing approximately 30kg each, measuring over 75cm tall!
To mark the 16th November release of Warner Bros. Pictures’ new big-adventure Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, The LEGO Group has brought several mischievous LEGO® brick Nifflers – the furry treasure-hunters with a penchant for anything shiny from the Wizarding World™ created by J.K. Rowling – to real world locations in the U.K.
The LEGO brick Nifflers have caught causing mischief in U.K. locations to celebrate the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The Nifflers have been spotted near some of London’s best-known hot spots for treasure, including the infamous diamond district Hatton Garden; and the keeper of the Crown Jewels, The Tower of London; before finishing their tour at their LEGO home, Leicester Square Retail Store.
Two more Nifflers also sought out shiny things in Edinburgh and Cardiff on the day of the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald regional premieres on 13 November.
Each Niffler has been created using more than 11,000 LEGO bricks, and weighing approximately 30kg each, measuring over 75cm tall and requiring 60 man hours to build.
