There is a new interview online with Patrick Doyle, who composed the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Many people discovered your music recently through your score to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. What was that like?
PD: It was extraordinary and it was great to work with Mike Newell again. I’d worked with the producer David Barron before, though not with David Heyman. I’d worked with Mike Newell on Into the West and Donnie Brasco.
John Williams wasn’t available and initially the request was that I’d be working with John’s material so I was a little hesitant. In the end it was just the Hedwig’s Theme that I bought over. It was an honour to follow in the footsteps of such a great composer.

As I posted earlier Patrick Doyle held an event tonight called ‘Music from the Movies‘ in aid of the UK’s leading blood cancer charity Leukaemia Research. Kenneth Bragnah, who played Lockhart in Chamber of Secrets, hosted the event. Other Harry Potter stars also attended, such as; Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Imelda Staunton, Mike Newell and Robbie Coltrane.
Pictures are beginning to appear online and you can see them HERE.

Patrick Doyle, the composer for the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire soundtrack, has recently discussed his battle with leukaemia.
“I rang Ken (Branagh). He came to visit twice a week while I was ill. He would help the hospital staff make tea, and bring in tapes and books for me.”
“Emma Thompson rang from Hollywood when she heard the news. She’d just had an MRI for a back problem and had me in stitches when she said the radiologist handed her a script he’d written and asked her to read it, adding that she was too old to play the lead role.”
“Timothy Spall had not long recovered from AML himself, having been diagnosed a year or two before, and he helped me lots with advice and encouragement. He’d say: “How’s the diarrhoea? I know, I know. And he did, because he’d been through it.”
