As he mentioned on his Twitter yesterday morning, Matthew Lewis is the Ambassador for the Young Game Designers Competition which is being held by The British Academy of Film and Television Arts. He was at the launch of the competition at the Walthamstow Academy yesterday. You can see two high resolution photos here at Lewis Lovers. According to the press release:
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is launching a new initiative that explores the creative possibilities and career opportunities within video games. The BAFTA Young Game Designers competition invites teams of three young people aged 11-16 from across the UK to submit a design for a new video game. The winning team will be announced at the EA British Academy Children’s Awards in November. The main aims of the competition are to promote creativity, help young people understand the different roles within video game design and highlight the key subject areas for entry into the industry.
BAFTA is partnering with the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA), Abertay University and EA for the competition. The winning team will receive a prize package that includes a BAFTA Young Game Designers Award; a work experience stint at Bright Light, an EA games studio, during which they will continue to develop their games concept; and a prototype of the winning game developed with Abertay University. All entrants – including the winning team – will retain the right to take their game to any studio in order to develop it commercially. The competition is open to all children aged 11-16 and further details about how to enter the competition can be found at www.bafta.org/ygd .
Matthew Lewis, best known to fans of the Harry Potter films as Neville Longbottom, has come onboard as the BAFTA Young Game Designers Ambassador. He will promote awareness of the competition to the media, children and their parents and sit on the competition’s judging panel.
Today we have three videos from the press conference held at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter on June 17th. The first is with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and Michale Gambon. The second with Matthew Lewis, Bonnie Wright, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps and Warwick Davis. The final video is with David Heyman, David Barron, Stuart Craig and Alan Gilmore.
Another article that was lost in the shuffle. Quickly copying the post from SS since I need to get back to work (I’ll add the Collectible of the Week back later tonight):
Daniel Radcliffe and Matthew Lewis admitted to CFNews13 that although main unit principal photography for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows completed a week ago, the pair still have two days each of second-unit filming left for the film. Dan stated that he has two days of underwater sequences he had yet to film; Matt said there were two more second-unit days he needed to complete. That can be viewed below.
Additionally in the video, Rupert Grint spoke about how much he enjoyed the iced Butterbeer, how odd it was to see his hologramed self inside Hogwarts, and that he would love to get a broomstick at Dervish and Banges; Warwick Davis went on the Flight of the Hippogriff roller coaster, the first ever in his life; Bonnie Wright was surprised to see there were actual shops from the books in the theme park, rather than general merchandise stores; and Tom Felton really loved that there wasn’t a single Muggle thing found throughout the Wizarding World.
Universal has released 3 new photos from the Grand Opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Two of the photos are of the cast leading a group of children into the park and another of Dan Radcliffe and Oliver Phelps riding The Flight of the Hippogriff with some of them. See all three photos in the gallery!
Today we have a wonderful video of the Grand Opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter from this morning! Watch below! More news of the day will be posted later, I’m just posting this quickly while I’m at work (shhh!)
