Release Date Set for Deathly Hallows Ultimate Editions; Double Feature Coming Soon

We now know the release date for the Ultimate Editions of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 and 2.  Amazon’s page has been updated to state that, what appears s to be the Ultimate Editions, will be released on October 16th.  You can pre-order both for $30.99 and $31.47 respectively on Blu-Ray. (Part 1, Part 2) Thanks to Hypable for the tip!

We have discovered that there will also be a Part 1 and 2 two pack released on the same day and is priced at $24.99!

Fans will also recall that the Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection will be released next Friday, September 7th!

Videos: New Clip from Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection

This morning we have been sent another new clip from the Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection (out September 7th in the US and 10th in the UK.) This new clip shows how they got Hagrid to look so much bigger when he was with the children.

John Williams to Receive Classic Brit Lifetime Achievement Award

John Williams is set to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for Classical Music at the 2012 Classic Brit Awards! Dickon Stainer, Co-chairman of the Classic Brit awards committee, told BBC: “John Williams has crafted some of the most memorable film scores for over half a century.”

Williams, who is now 80 years old, has won five Oscars, four Golden Globes, seven Baftas and twenty-one Grammy awards. He is also the second most nominated man at the Academy Awards behind Walt Disney, with 47 nominations over the course of his career. Some of his most famous scores include Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Home Alone, Jurassic Park and, of course, Harry Potter.

Nominations for the rest of the awards will be announced on September 6th.  The show will be hosted by Myleene Klass at London’s Royal Albert Hall and will air on ITV1  on 2 October.

Harry Potter Airing on ABC Family Starting Tonight

ABC Family is having another Harry Potter weekend starting tonight at 8pm.  They will be airing Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince along with other family favorites such as Mulan, Matilda, Nanny McPhee, Aladdin and Monsters Inc.! Harry Potter will be airing at the following times:

Thursday

  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – 8pm

Friday

  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – 4:30pm
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – 7:30pm

Saturday

  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – 3:30pm

Updated Harry Potter Film Wizardry Book to be Released this October

Publishing company Harper Collins will be releasing a Revised and Expanded version of Harry Potter Film Wizardry is set to release on October 23rd of this year. Fans will recall that back in 2012 Harry Potter Film Wizardry [my review] was published, and in 2011 Harry Potter: Page to Screen was released.

According to the listing, the book will include, “new material from Deathly Hallows: Part II and an exclusive removable photo album, with never-before-seen images from all eight films.”

This new version will contain 164 pages, whereas the old version was slightly smaller with 160.

Video: Preview of Creating the World of Harry Potter: Story

The Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection has released a preview of one of the features on the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I section entitled Creating the World of Harry Potter: Story. The 31 disc edition will be released on September 7th 2012.  A full description of the feature is as follows:

Over the course of ten years, screenwriter Steve Kloves worked tirelessly with author J.K. Rowling to develop her magical books into films. From the beginning, Kloves had to decide what to keep, what to change and what to cut while staying true to Rowling’s vision, initially without even knowing how the series ended!
