Apple Store Cast Q&A
Posted by Megs

Today the Apple store in SoHo had a cast Q&A session with members of the Harry Potter cast. David Barron, David Heyman, Michael Gambon, Warwick Davis, Robbie Coltrane, Helen McCrory, David Thewlis, Natalia Tena, Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch, Freddie Stroma and the Phelps twins were in attendance. I was at the event on behalf of the website but no flash photography or recording of the event were permitted so to hear all of the answers you will have to wait for Apple to release the vide, which should be later tonight. I did try to take some photos but they didn’t come out. Here is a small preview though.

The cast were asked what their favorite scene was, whether they filmed it or they just enjoyed it. Their answers are as follows (is is not exact wording, I was feverishly writing so I would remember what they said)

Michael Gambon – his scenes in the Great Hall making speeches
David Heyman – Less actiony scenes such as Harry flying Buckbeak, Harry and Hermione dancing in DH, and when the Gryffindor boys ate the animal candies
David Barron – the “no post on Sundays” scene from SS
Robbie Coltrane – Norbert hatching and subsequently catching his beard on fire
Warwick Davis – the Tale of the Three Brothers animation as well as his stage dive in GoF
Helen McCrory – Harry confronting Voldemort in Part 2
David Thewlis – Aunt Marge being blown up and turning into a werewolf
Natalia Tena – the Tale of the Three Brothers animation and flying on broomsticks
Bonnie Wright – filming in the Chamber of Secrets because it was a turning point for Ginny and the Epilogue
Oliver Phelps – Giving Harry the Mauraders Map and the twins fight in GoF
James Phelps – the joke shop scenes in HBP
Evanna Lynch – the Weasley wedding because it showed that wizards are normal, the people dancing in the background specifically
Freddie Stroma – Quidditch scenes; they just threw balls at him and he had to hit them away which made for some interesting moments; smashing a light, hitting a fan, and hitting a person

I will post the link to the video when it is available for download

Evanna Lynch Speaks to Primary Students in Ireland
Posted by Megs

Evanna Lynch has joined the Harry Potter actors on Twitter, you can follow her at Evy_Lynch. Additionally, The Irish Times report that Evanna Lynch spoke to a group of 30 primary school students at Dublin City University in Ireland this past Saturday. She talks about her experience on the Potter films as well as some of the actors and actresses she has worked with.  Some snippets from the article may be read below.

“I don’t think she is weird, she is completely herself. She is okay with being eccentric and a little different,” she said of the character who made her name. Lynch is just 19 but she told the class she could remember a time when the Harry Potter books were not the big deal they are now. The students would have no conception of a time before Harry Potter.

There was no shortage of questions for the actor, who will sit her Leaving Certificate and intends to emigrate to London during the summer to pursue an acting career. Each response elicited another forest of hands from a knowledgable audience. What is her favourite Harry Potter book/film/scene/character? What was it like to see Dumbledore die? What was it like to act alongside computer generated characters such as the Dooby, the house-elf, or Thestrals, the winged horse? Was there anybody on set she did not like? “No,” she replied.

Lynch also provided some insights into the cast and characters of the film franchise that fans will find interesting. She met author JK Rowling about five times and had written to her before getting the part. “She’s so warm. I’m going to write to her and tell her about this course. She would be really chuffed about it.”

A photo of the actress with some of the students may be seen below.

Evanna Lynch Talks Playing Luna Lovegood
Posted by Megs

In a new interview with Hero Complex, Evanna Lynch talks about playing Luna Lovegood and being in the Harry Potter films.  Some segments from the interview may be read below.

“I just felt that if anyone was to play her, it should be me,” Lynch said. “It was like studying for a math exam. I studied to be her. I really, really like her. I think that parts of me are like [Luna], but I am different. I had to be in the audition. I said ‘I know that you may have ideas of who Luna is, but here is how I see her.’ “

In “Deathly Hallows,” Luna’s famously positive attitude and demeanor is tested, but she remains steadfast in her optimism and detached calmness even while  imprisoned  in the dungeon-like gloom of the Malfoy Mansion basement.  ”I don’t think Luna changes. The thing about her is that she’s so relaxed about herself. She has to be a bit more serious than normal [in “Deathly Hallows”] and has to accept that times are dark. She always sees the positive and has a spirituality about herself. She doesn’t think that death is the end.”

Evanna Lynch in Total Film Indonesia
Posted by Megs

Thanks again to mavieenlair18, we have scans and a transcript of Evanna Lynch’s interview in Total Film Indonesia.

You’re the biggest fan on the set and the fans next summer are going to have to go through a horrible withdrawal next summer with no more films coming out. But you’ve had your withdrawal this summer. Any advice for the fans?
It will be a shock. It was a shock for me. I’ve been with everyone for so long. We’ve always had this question, what’s it going to be like when it ends. And then on the last day, I was, like, “Oh, what’s going to happen now?” But what I realized was that it did end but I was still talking to all my friends. I think that’s what they’ll realize, that yeah, sure, officially it’s ending but because you have all these friends who are passionate about the same thing you’ll still be alive and you’ll still talking about it. So, yeah, just enjoy it and don’t… I wouldn’t think about the end until it comes.

You can now look back at everything you’ve done with Harry Potter. So what kind of impact in particular has that had on you, in terms of values or how you think about life?
People say, “Oh, it hasn’t changed. I’m still with my friends and family.” In that sense, yes, you’re still you. But it’s definitely changed how I look at life and how I approach things now. Before Harry Potter, it was something out there. It was a dream, it was something I couldn’t touch… and those people, I had them on pedestals. And since I’ve been on this, and I’ve seen how it all happens, and I’ve seen how the magic happens. But anyway, it makes you realize, oh, I’m just another person, I can do that. They’re just people doing this. I’ve seen the way people, like fans… when I go to premieres, the way they treat me was the way I would’ve been then, but no, that’s an illusion. I used to think, like, “Oh, I would love to someday be a writer” and used to go, like, “that’s won’t happen”. But now I’m like, “No, that can”. You just take initiative and you just believe in yourself, and believe that you’re as good as anyone else and as able to do it as everyone else. So yeah, I hope people will see us, “Oh, she’s a normal girl. If she can do that, I can do that.”
