Indie London is reporting that Thursday, September 24, 2009 WB will launch 1,000 balloons  for a contest to visit the Deathly Hallows set:

Each balloon released will have a card attached featuring a unique code that will entitle the holder to register online at www.warnerbros.co.uk/harrypotterballoon between October 1, 2009 and December 4, 2009 for entry into the grand prize draw.

The grand prize draw will take place on December 7, 2009 – being the date on which Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince is released on Blu-ray and DVD.  The first prize winner will embark on a tour of the Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows film set before they head off to make-up and wardrobe.  They will then step on to a set for a unique and exciting filming experience, where they will be filmed in the role of one of the magical framed “moving” portrait characters that have adorned the walls of Hogwarts in all of the Harry Potter films.

Fifty runners-up will also each win a pack of Harry Potter™ lenticular cards.

Thanks TLC!

UPDATE:  Apparently the launch takes place at 1pm at the Millennium Bridge and Matthew and Evanna Lynch will be releasing the balloons.

Suzie Toase back for DH
Posted by Megs

According to SS, Suzie Toase, who played Death Eater Alecto Carrow in Half-Blood Prince, confirmed that she would be back for Deathly Hallows.

We’re seeing a lot of you at the moment, not least in Harry Potter. Do you feel like you’re now moving to the next level in your career?
I certainly hope that I am. I didn’t do that much in the last Harry Potter film, so it didn’t change my career all that dramatically, but I’m in the next one as well so we’ll see if that has any impact.

Brendan Gleeson Wins Emmy, Done Filming Potter
Posted by Megs

Yesterday Brendan Gleeson won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie category for his turn as former UK Prime Minister Winston Churchilll in Into the Storm..  At a press conference after he won he mentioned he was finished filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Brendan Gleeson, who collected an Emmy in his first attempt for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in HBO’s miniseries “Into the Storm,” said he learned a lot about him during production. “He was one of those great people; you could make 10,000 movies — they’ve probably made 10,000 about him — and still find more to mine. He was a Nobel Prize-winning author, among other things, but it was the liveliness of his mind (that most impressed me) considering he drank a lot.” Gleeson noted he just wrapped filming “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” and bid farewell to his Mad-Eye Moody. “I waved goodbye to him a week and a half ago. It was great fun, playing Mad-Eye was a hoot.”

Some filming took place in Scotland with the Hogwarts Express train for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. A photographer has posted photos on his flickr of the filming.  We see that a camera was attached to a helicopter to get the overhead shots and there are also some shots of the train and crew.

Jamie CB Talks Grindelwald Again
Posted by Megs

In another new interview Jamie Campbell Bower discusses Grindelwald again!

“I play Gellert Grindelwald, who is an old friend of Dumbledore’s,” explained the 21-year-old actor. “It’s a flashback character, which is good fun. I did a little bit before I went off and did ‘New Moon.'”  “No, I’m just doing number one,” he answered when we asked if Grindelwald was scheduled to be in both halves of the split-for-the-cinema-sequels made from J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” novel. “Thus far, I mean. I haven’t seen the script for the second one; I don’t think anyone has seen the script for the second one.”

As for the look of Gellert, the actor revealed: “We’re pretty much keeping it straight; the costume is fantastic — we had this idea that he’s very bird-like. He’s described in the book as almost looking like a crow or something like that, and we [latched] onto that; I have a nice jacket which makes me look cool.”

In fact, Jamie told us, if you look closely at Grindelwald’s appearance when the first half of “Deathly Hallows” hits theaters in November 2010, you’ll see hints of his bird motif. “It doesn’t have wings or anything; it’s just the way that it’s cut. It’s very subtle,” he explained. “But, as is true with a lot of things in film, if you know what the intention is and the background of it, then you can recognize it — but if you’re not really watching or paying any attention, then you’ll miss it.”
