Bloomsbury Children’s Books today reveals the stunning cover of the full-colour illustrated edition of Newt Scamander’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling. Illustrated by fine artist Olivia Lomenech Gill, the cover features the Occamy, a two-legged winged creature that lays eggs of the purest, softest silver.

Publishing on 7th November 2017, this glorious new colour edition of the updated Hogwarts library classic features an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Olivia Lomenech Gill, winner of the English Association Picture Book Award and Kate Greenaway Medal shortlisted artist, has illustrated every beast from Acromantula to Yeti, using a variety of techniques, including prints and etchings, watercolour and charcoal sketches.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has been an approved textbook at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry since its publication. Newt Scamander’s masterpiece has entertained wizarding families through the generations and is an indispensable introduction to the magical beasts of the wizarding world. Scamander’s years of travel and research have created a tome of unparalleled importance. Some of the beasts will be familiar to readers of the Harry Potter books – the Hippogriff, the Basilisk, the Hungarian Horntail. Others will surprise even the most ardent amateur Magizoologist.

Proceeds from the sale of this edition will go to Comic Relief and J.K. Rowling’s own international charity Lumos, charities which help some of the world’s most vulnerable children and young people, to help them have a better life.

Pottermore, the digital heart of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, will exclusively reveal extra artwork from the illustrated edition of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them at 13:00pm on Monday 10th July 2017. Head to www.pottermore.com to see more of Olivia Lomenech Gill’s beautiful images.
