An uncorrected proof copy of the first Harry Potter novel, the Philosopher’s Stone, signed by J.K. Rowling is to be auctioned along with a bunch of other fun stuff!

Jonathon Ross will be hosting the auction that is taking place on June 17th, with profits donated to the National Film and Television School. Harry Potter director David Yates attended the school.

Arthur Weasley has made it on to Moviefone.com’s Best Movie Dads Ever list! For some reason the page won’t work right for me so here is a quote from Leaky:

Just in time for Father’s Day, this feature names the father of seven, portrayed by actor Mark Williams in the films, among many other notable movie dads. It was wizardry that transformed J.K. Rowling from a destitute single mother on welfare into a best-selling billionaire. Her adventures of teenage magician Harry Potter and his classmates at Hogwarts became a children’s literary sensation in 1998 with the U.S. publication of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. It and the six subsequent books have now sold 375 million copies worldwide. The final one, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, has sold 44 million since it was published last July, including 15 million in the first 24 hours.

Last summer the British-born boy wizard, 18, signed a jaw-dropping contract worth an estimated $50 million to continue his leading role in the last two installments of the Harry Potter series. (The final story, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, has since split into two movies, meaning even more cash for him.) He also played the title role in the BBC’s TV movie My Boy Jack, a World War I story about Rudyard Kipling’s ill-fated son, and he’ll be baring all on Broadway in Equus.

BlogHogwarts: Had you read any of the Harry Potter books before you obtained the role?
Dean Mitchell: Yes, I am a big fan of the Harry Potter books but when it comes down to books and movies I tend to do it in reverse order to most people. When a film gets released after a book you can often find that the reader of the book is dissapointed with the film. But I find that if I have seen a movie I enjoyed, then I will turn to the book in order to get more out of the story. But as an exception to my own rule I have to say that if anyone is interested in Time Travel, you have to read The Truth Machine by James L Harperin… No movie as yet.
BH: Have you already shot scenes of Half-Blood Prince?
DM: My involvement with Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was shot in England during the earlier part of this year before I relocated to Los Angeles, California.
BH: How do you feel about being in a Harry Potter film?
DM: I’m extremely grateful to have appeared in a Harry Potter film and to be a small part of the Harry Potter legacy. We have a lot to thank J.K Rowling for and I feel truly blessed, honoured and lucky to have been in some of the best production around today.
BH: Have you met other actors or actresses on Harry Potter set?
DM: Indeed, yes I’ve worked with them on the set and met others outside of the film industry in other locations.
