The nominations for the Visual Effects Society (VES) awards were chosen this weekend and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has been included in four categories.
Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Motion Picture (The Hall of Prophecy)
Outstanding Models or Miniatures in a Motion Picture (Hogwarts School)
Outstanding Compositing in a Motion Picture (Hall of Prophecy and Comp Shots)
Outstanding Special Effects in a Motion Picture
The awards ceremony till take place on February 10th, 2008 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has been included in the British Academy Film Awards, also known as the BAFTA’s, longlists for this year in 6 categories.

The BAFTA longlists have 15 movies in each category, and five nominees are chosen in the second round of voting, which closes January 14th. The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 10th at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London.
According to Broadway World, Miriam Margoyles, who plays Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter films, will make her Broadway debut as Madame Morrible in the musical Wicked, starting January 22.

Guillermo Del Toro has recently done an interview with MTV and the talk about Harry Potter. He says that he would like to direct the final film. Some segments of his interview:
“I think now that the movies have grown darker, I am definatley interested…I was very moved by the ending”
Dan Radcliffe and Stephen Fry have donated their old glasses to a Holocaust memorial artwork.
The display is part of Liverpool’s month of events leading up to Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27th which will be headed by Jason Isaacs who will lead a commemorative ceremony at the Philharmonic Hall. Over a thousand pairs of glasses have been collected and the public will be able to add to the other glasses before the unveiling on January 21st.
