Radcliffe Eyes Directorial Career
Posted by LadyLongbottom

I was looking around IMDB and found this on the news page…

Daniel Radcliffe is planning to make magic happen from behind the camera when he finishes filming the Harry Potter franchise – by becoming a director.

The 20 year old star is close to completing his time as the boy wizard, with the cast currently shooting the final part of the big screen phenomenon, set for release as in 2011.

Although Radcliffe has moviemakers clamouring to sign him up to star in new projects, the young Brit is ready to become an auteur in his own right, according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper.

He is so intent on embarking on a career as a director, he even persuaded Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ producer David Barron to let him helm one of the film’s scenes.

A source tells the publication, “Daniel has told friends he is looking for a project to direct when he finally waves goodbye to Hogwarts. He has been approached by a number of producers.

“He wants to direct something gritty and hard-hitting. David has been giving him guidance on how to reach his goal.”

Daniel Radcliffe hated his Harry Potter school uniform
Posted by LadyLongbottom

It’s one of those beloved rites of passage all youngsters cherish and look forward to – the ditching of the school uniform. It doesn’t matter how much you tart it up – allowing girls to wear trousers, no tie, etc. – school uniforms aren’t designed as cool teenage wear, just ask Daniel Radcliffe. The 19-year-old actor has been wearing one as cinematic alter-ego Harry Potter for years and as the sixth movie, The Half-Blood Prince, hits cinemas today, he’s dishing the dirt on the Hogwarts dress.

“One of the worst things to be wearing while trying to chat up a girl is a school uniform,” reveals the young star who as Harry romanced Cho Chang (Katie Leung) in Order of the Phoenix and might be looking to get friendly with Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright), the younger sister of best mate, Ron (Rupert Grint) in The Half-Blood Prince. “You look like a kid! You’re not going to score dressed like that.”

Thankfully for Dan, Harry won’t be dressed like that for much longer as the final two instalments of the Harry Potter franchise, The Deathly Hallows: Parts I and II see the boy wizard leave Hogwarts and its uniform and he’s glad the ordeal is over. “I was like “Burn it!” I was hoping they’d throw them on a giant bonfire. Oh my God, to be done with that uniform and those shoes, that was an exciting day.”

Co-star Grint clearly felt differently, keeping one of Ron’s neck-ties as a souvenir, but with the action moving away from the school room, it invites the question: what exciting street clothes can we expect from Harry in The Deathly Hallows? Unfortunately, we won’t find out until it’s released in November 2010, dammit!

Wright's Nostalgia Over Harry Potter Films
Posted by LadyLongbottom

Harry Potter star Bonnie Wright is looking forward to watching all of the boy wizard movies after the final film is released – so she can relive her childhood.

The 18 year old has starred in the magical franchise since she was nine years old and finishes work on the final instalment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, next year.

And she is excited about being able to watch all eight of the Potter movies in one go – so she can see her life on screen.

Wright tells Moviehole, “They sometimes pop up on TV, and you see all of us when we’re so young, and all the guys, their voices are so high pitched and girly. So, it’s weird.

“I think in, maybe, ten years, we’ll all be able to look back at these movies and watch our childhood, almost. Our childhood’s been seen on screen, the way we’ve grown up.”

Potter's Wright To Study Film At University
Posted by LadyLongbottom

Harry Potter star Bonnie Wright is moving behind the camera – she’s set to take up a place studying film at university.

The 18 year old has juggled her school work with life on set while starring in the wizard franchise for the last nine years – and now she’s continuing her education by enrolling in a film course.

She says, “In September, I’m going to film school, so that’s what I decided to do for my university choice. The movies couldn’t have directed my life more.

“I think as well from working within Harry Potter… I think the work ethic and the passion that goes behind the filming of it have really made me have a work ethic that I want to continue, and I’ve born a sort of passion toward film.”

The teenager has been receiving advice from the films’ director David Yates – and has even lined up some work behind the scenes as she completes filming on the final instalment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Wright adds, “I’ve been talking (with Yates) and obviously he’s really excited that that’s what I’m going to do, to go to film school.

“I’m starting in a few weeks on the seventh film and I’m going to do some work – I’ve already got some work experience with the art department and costume department – but I’m going to do some work with the editors and the cinematographer and the cameramen. So it’s going to be amazing to get first-hand work experience with those people. I’m really looking forward to that.”
