Hypable‘s Andrew Sims had the chance to talk to Harry Potter producer David Heyman today about his newest project, Gravity, and also asked about the new Potter spin-off. He did not say if he was involved in the film, but it sure sounds like he’s invested in it. According to Hypable:
Pressing on, we asked him what his feelings are from the perspective of a fan. “As a fan, as a filmmaker, I am really… really… really excited,” Heyman said to Hypable in what are the first comments from the Harry Potter franchise’s creative team. “She’s a great storyteller, and I’m sure this will be something really great. She wouldn’t do it otherwise – she doesn’t need to do it.”
At least, she doesn’t need to do it because Warner Bros. asked her. He continued, “She’s doing it because she needs to do it because she has a story to tell.”
“It’s going to be very good. I assure you,” he added. Those are big words from one of the closest people connected to the Harry Potter movies.

Warner Bros Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter will be having a special Halloween feature from October 19th to November 3rd. According to the press release:
Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is inviting visitors to explore some spooky special effects, ghostly goings-on and brave a trip down an altogether more mysterious Diagon Alley this October.
Vats of slimy troll snot, buckets of dribbling drool (of the three-headed dog variety) and vials of silvery unicorn blood will be showcased at the Studio Tour this Halloween. Visitors will get to see live demonstrations showing exactly how the gunk and goo was created for the Harry Potter film series.
Those feeling particularly courageous will be able to creep down a darker Diagon Alley as the lights are dimmed, the music turns spookier and the wizarding shopping street set is invaded by Lord Voldemort’s henchmen the Death Eaters. Duelling practise will be provided for those who choose to take part in an interactive wand combat lesson.
Hogwarts’ iconic Great Hall will be decorated with mountains of toffee apples, pumpkins and sweets as it was for the Halloween feast in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Ghost costumes used in the most successful film series of all time will line the Great Hall, including those of
Nearly Headless Nick, Moaning Myrtle and Slytherin’s house ghost The Bloody Baron.
The Studio Tour’s Halloween feature will run from Saturday 19th October to Sunday 3rd November and all extra activities are included in the ticket price. Something wicked this way comes.

In a new interview with PopSugar, Daniel Radcliffe talks Kill Your Darlings as well as Harry Potter and writing his own script.
PS: Do you have plans to work in film outside of acting?
DR: I have written a script. I’ve completed it; I don’t know if it’s any good, but it’s certainly nice to have finished something. That’s a huge achievement for me at this point. It’s a very, very dark comedy. There’s always themes I’m really interested in. They are themes that aren’t dissimilar to [Kill Your Darlings], about friendship and when a friendship becomes unhealthy and what you have to do to move on from that. But it’s a much more heightened scenario. It’s probably sh*t! But the point is, I’ve finished it, and the next thing I write won’t be!
PS: Coming from an environment of huge film sets of Harry Potter, what’s refreshing about making smaller films?
DR: Everything, absolutely. It’s a much better way of working, and it’s a much more creative way of working to have to go quickly rather than going slow. Twenty-four shooting days — I think that adds something to the film, and I think that adds a kind of vitality you need in a film about youth and about the Beat Generation.
PS: What are some of the differences?
DR: Really the only difference in doing big films as opposed to small films — they’re very superficial, the differences — they’re things like, how long do you have the crane camera for? On Potter, where I grew up, there were two crane cameras on set all the time, just because you might need one later! And I didn’t even realize that was weird or unusual. And we were recceing locations for this shoot, and I heard John (Krokidas, the director) say to our producer, “OK, so this is the day we’ll have the crane.” And I was like, oh, we get one day with the crane, and we have to do all our crane stuff.

Yahoo Finance has revealed that the expansion of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, FL will open in Spring 2014 via an interview with Steve Burke, President and Chief Executive Officer of NBC Universal.
Thanks to SnitchSeeker we know that Burke previously mentioned that Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort hotel (scheduled to open on Match 31st) will open before the Diagon Alley expansion, meaning the expansion will likely open in April or May.
The Harry Potter park is currently at Islands of Adventure while Diagon Alley is in the Universal Studios park. So you will literally take the Hogwarts Express from Diagon Alley to Hogsmeade!
The second attraction is in the other gate and the way you get from one gate to the second gate as you take a train and the train is the Hogwarts Express. And so, the actual transition or the movement from one gate to another gate is part of the attraction which is never been done before and it’s a wonderful creative idea, that opens next spring.
Thanks to LeakyNews for the tip!

It has just been announced that J.K. Rowling will be writing the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as part of a new creative partnership with Warner Bros. Fantastic Beasts is going to be part of a series as well as a new video game, consumer products and integrated into their digital initiatives businesses. Of the screenplay Rowling said:
Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.
Warner Bros will also be the distributor for the BBC series “The Casual Vacancy,” based on her best-selling first novel aimed at adult audiences. The miniseries begins production in 2014. The full press release may be read by clicking more.
