Harry Potter stars Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley) and Isabella Laughland (Leanne) will be starring in the Minerva Theatre production of King Lear starting October 31st until November 30th. Harry will be starring as “Fool” and Isabella will be Cordelia. A synopsis of the well known play is as follows:
The legendary American stage and screen actor Frank Langella plays Lear as Chichester Festival Theatre’s Associate Director, Angus Jackson, brings Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy to the intimacy of the Minerva Theatre for 32 performances only.
The ageing Lear decides to divide his kingdom between his three daughters, giving the biggest piece to the one who claims to love him most. When Cordelia, the youngest, refuses to match the false flattery of her sisters, she is banished from the kingdom.
Having relinquished his power to Regan and Goneril, and tormented by his misjudgement, the increasingly frail Lear descends into grief-fuelled madness.
Ticket prices are as follows with full booking information available here.
Evenings/Matinees: £32
Aged 18-25? An allocation of tickets priced at just £8.50 for all performances in both theatres will be released one month before each production opens. Find out more.
Following the Minerva Theatre run, the production will transfer to BAM, New York playing from 7 January – 9 February 2014. We are unsure if Harry and Isabella will continue after the first run but will of course update as we find out more.

The Sweet Shop, a movie Matthew filmed way back in 2010 has finally been released for pubic viewing via Vimeo on Demand! It is rentable worldwide for $1.49 (stay tuned for a way to win a special code!) There are even a bunch of special features, including interviews with Matthew, available for viewing on the page. The film was shown at last week’s London Film Festival and was well received.
For those of you that have since forgotten the story line, below is a synopsis:
Despite his rock star status, the break up of Jarvis Marshall’s band has caused him to face a loss of direction, as well as the loss of his family. In need of salvation, Jarvis discovers inspiration with the help of Katie Powell, a childhood friend from the village where he grew up.
Now running her grandfather’s sweet shop, Katie’s passion for life is reignited with the return of her former crush. However, their obvious connection is threatened when Katie discovers that Jarvis is no longer the boy she once idolised.
Determined to uncover her old friend, Katie reminds Jarvis who he used to be. Meanwhile, Jarvis’ supermodel girlfriend, Simone, hires a reporter to sabotage the blossoming relationship. With the help of Katie’s jealous ex- boyfriend, Simone resorts to deceit and lies in order to keep Jarvis from Katie, but she soon discovers that she can’t stand in the way of their feelings.
The Sweet Shop is an alternative but touching take on the traditional romantic comedy, following two old friends as they face their pasts in order to look to the future. Starring Matthew Lewis (from the Harry Potter franchise), Gemma Atkinson (Hollyoaks, 13Hrs, How to Stop being a Loser), Susan Hoecke (Reef Doctors, Storm of Love).

Teen Vogue has posted a new interview with Daniel Radcliffe where he discusses his life post-Potter, Kill Your Darlings and more! Some pieces may be read below, with the full interview over at Teen Vogue.
Kill Your Darlings is such a different project for you. What drew you to this role?
The brilliant script. It’s about Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and William Burroughs, and as you read the script, they just become Will, Jack, and Allen. It’s much more about their lives and you stop caring who they are. You could take out the fact that these guys were in a great literary movement and it’d still be a fascinating story to tell. The fact that it’s the true story of something that actually gave birth to a generation of writers makes it more interesting.
You had two other films premiere at TIFF, Horns and The F Word. What is the difference between working on the Harry Potter series and working on indie films?
There a lot fewer people on set with indies. But films are always chaos. Everyone assumes because Potter had time and money, it was really efficient. Not the case at all. The more time and money you have, the more you will probably waste. Time and money give you the luxury of not having to make a decision right away. With smaller films, the decisions have to get made. They have no money and time so you actually end up with great momentum on set and you film really quickly.
Are there any similarities?
Ultimately, every film crew is the same and every film is the same. It’s a group of people, some who know each other, some of whom don’t, who get together for a period of time and bring something ordered and beautiful out of chaos. But that’s the fun of it. That’s one of the reasons I love my job and I love the industry—you get to watch that journey.
You really are passionate about your craft!
Every time I step onto a set with a new director, there’s something new to watch. They all have a different way of working, and they’ll do something and I’ll go, “That’s freaking amazing!” I want to do that when I direct. It’s a constant learning process and I find it fascinating.
What advice do you have for young people trying to achieve their dream?
It all depends on what your definition of success is, because the only one that matters is the one you set yourself. People can say I’m successful—I’ve had a very charmed life and I’ve been very lucky to have done the things that I’ve done—but at the same time, I was never 100% happy with the work I did during Potter. My definition of success is about making a transition out of Potter and forging a long-term career for myself with longevity. Define success on your own terms and don’t give up until you get there.

Back in August we posted a fun infographic showing how much The Burrow would cost in today’s market. The same company, Movato, have created a brand new scenario for Number 12 Grimmauld Place, the Headquarters for the Order of the Phoenix.
While you may need magic in order actually see 12 Grimmauld Place, I didn’t need any charms or spells in order to find its value. I just needed three things:
- The location
- The size
- Comparable properties
Unlike The Burrow, which required a little more investigation and imagination, the location, size, and comparable properties for 12 Grimmauld Place were actually pretty straightforward.
—-
So with the cost per square foot of $975 and the house’s square footage of 3,780, the final listing cost of 12 Grimmauld Place is $3,685,500—£2,336,875 or 501,429 Galleons*—and that doesn’t even include Kreacher (though unless you have a counter for a Permanent Sticking Charm, it does come with the screaming portrait of Mrs. Black. Sorry!)

TotalFilm have emailed this morning to let us know of a fun new feature they posted: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Complete Guide. It is basically a timeline and starts off in 2011, when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II came out and goes through all the steps since then. That includes the Studio Tour, Pottermore, Jo’s newer novels and going back to when she wrote the companion books (Tales of Beedle the Bard, Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages.) The list also includes some of Warner Bros. other films such as their hits and misses and why they may be taking this direction. It finishes up with multiple slides on the actual films themselves and what we know so far and predictions on who will be cast and direct.
Visit Total Film to read the full list. A short excerpt from the guide is below:
Stop the Presses
On 12 September, Warner broke the news that the world of Harry Potter would be returning to the big screen in the form of an adaptation of the aforementioned Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them.
Described as neither prequel or sequel, the film will follow the adventures of the book’s fictional author, Newt Scamander, with Rowling confirmed as the project’s official screenwriter.
“The idea of seeing Newt Scamander, the supposed author of Fantastic Beasts, realised by another writer was difficult,” explained Rowling in an official statement. “As I considered Warner’s proposal, an idea took shape that I couldn’t dislodge. That is how I ended up pitching my own idea for a film to Warner Bros.”
Safe Pair Of Hands
In a sensible move designed to establish some continuity between the new film and those that had gone before, Warner re-signed David Heyman to resume his position as producer, a slot he had occupied on all previous entries in the Potter saga.
“I can’t talk really about it yet,” said Heyman, when asked about the new project recently. “All I can say is that it’s great. Jo had no need to go back to this universe or world.”
“It’s not Harry Potter per se, but the world of Harry. She’s chosen to do so because she felt a need to tell a story. That she’s doing it means that it’s going to be very, very special.”
