I interviewed my friend Natalie about her experience at the Lavendar Brown open auditions on July 1st:

Megan: How early did you get there and how big was the line?
Nat: Well I arrived at London the night before, but I started queueing at 8am and there were hundreds there before me. I had to walk past the audition building, down the street and started queuing half way down the next street.

Megan: What did you guys do while waiting? Did you talk to the other girls who were waiting?
Nat: Well I said a few things to the other girls while I was queueing. But I didn’t really get to know them until my mum had to leave and then I was by my self in the queue. A bunch of very nice girls from Liverpool started talking to me, which made it a much nicer experience.

Megan: What did you do once you got into the building?
Nat: When I got into the building we queued some more. Haha. But then we had to fill in an application form while we were waiting. After that, we were seperated from our parents and then…we queued some more. Then after EVEN MORE queuing we went into a room where we wrote our name on a white board, held it in front of us and they took a picture of us. Then we had a sort of pep talk from one of the casting team and then we were off to the actual audition.

Megan: What did the audition consist of? Did you have to act out any specific scenes?
Nat: No. We just had to say out our name and age then tell them an interesting fact about ourselves. It was based on appearance and voice more than anything.

Megan: Did they say how many rounds there would be of call backs?
Nat: No they didn’t. They just said that if we didn’t get called this week then we were probably one of the 6999 people that did not get the part. Haha.

Megan: What was the best part about going to the audition?
Nat: Er…the experience and getting to meet the casting people of Harry Potter. The whole vibe there was amazing. Everyone would look you up and down as you passed and you could tell they were thinking “Ooh could she get the part? “. But yeah, the casting people were awsome, very polite and supportive. You know, these are the people who have casted all the characters so far. I’m just glad I got to be there.

Megan: Did you have a conversation between just you and them, or was it just a group of girls at a time?
Nat: No it was a group of 30 girls at a time.

Megan: I cant think of any more good questions so do you have anything else you want to say about the experience?
Nat: Erm…oh to anyone who’s thinking of going to any future auditions. Take seats God five hours of standing is not good. Oh and an umbrella , it tends to rain a lot in London.

Megan: Haha…thanks for letting me interview you! Be sure to let me know if you get into the next round! Good Luck
Nat: No problem. Glad to share the experience. Thanks.
