Rupert Grint’s ‘Foosball’ to be Released Worldwide by The Weinstein Co.
Posted by Megs

We reported back in February that Rupert Grint’s film, Foosball, would be released in the UK under the title The Unbeatables. Today, Variety reports that The Weinstein Co. has acquired rights in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and France.

They have renamed the film Underdogs and it will be released on August 27th worldwide. (August 8th in the UK.)

“Underdogs” centers on a reluctant hero whose town is threatened when his long-time rival returns home to avenge an old grudge. When the players from his foosball table are magically brought to life, he recruits them to help him enter into an underdog match to save the town and win back the love of his life.

“This film’s magical story, heart and humor, along with its top notch animation, truly resonated with us and is sure to captivate parents just as much as it will their children,” said Harvey Weinstein. “We’re incredibly excited to share it with audiences here in the US and around the world.”

Daniel Radcliffe & Rupert Grint Interviewed in ‘The Big Issue’
Posted by Megs

The Big Issue has posted a new interview with Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe. They talk about the fame that Harry Potter has given them as well as swapping their costumes for the streets and selling The Big Issue.

“Going out and selling The Big Issue would undoubtedly be a challenge, especially for me and Rupert,” explains Radcliffe, winner of Best Actor in a Play for Broadway-bound The Cripple of Inishmaan. “But it would be a positive and edifying experience and I’d be happy to support The Big Issue in any way.

“I’d love to try selling The Big Issue, absolutely,” added West End debutant Grint, winner of the same London Newcomer of the Year for Mojo that Radcliffe scooped in 2008. “I can’t imagine how difficult a job it is for these guys out on the street. I was terrified about how I would handle the play before it started but I gave it my best and I’d certainly give this a go too.”

On fame, Daniel said:

“We’ve lived our lives in a certain bubble, which has changed the way people relate and talk to you,” Radcliffe said of himself and fellow Hogwarts alumnus Rupert Grint. “As actors we are afforded a certain attitude towards us, and this is a very privileged way to walk through the world. To swap that and get a taste for how a huge amount of people are treated in the world would be a rewarding experience.”

Help Fund ‘Enemy of Man’ Starring Rupert Grint
Posted by Megs

A Kickstarter page has been created for a project Rupert Grint is attached to, entitled Enemy of Man. It is a retelling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth and in order to be produced they need to raise $250,000. The film also stars Sean Bean(of Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones fame) and Charles Dance (also from Game of Thrones.) The stars of the film came together to create an 8 minute proof of concept short film to help raise money to fully produce the film. The Kickstarter page states:

Our cast and crew that made this proof of concept a reality, helped bring it to life out of their love and dedication for the project and were not offered any financial incentive. They believed in the idea and the potential of what the project had to offer and we hope you do too.

There are various rewards given for each donation amount. Starting at $10 you get to see the 8 minute short, and if you go as high as $10,000 you will be a co-producer. Additionally, everyone pledging $15 or more will receive a digital copy of the film when (and if) it is released.

A description of the film is as follows

Enemy of Man is an ambitious feature length retelling of William Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy, Macbeth.

This will be the feature directorial debut of actor Vincent Regan. Vincent is no stranger to Shakespeare. Although known for such films as The Messenger, 300, and Troy, he is a veteran of the Royal Shakespeare and National theaters and has directed and acted in Macbeth on the London stage.

The Enemy of Man will have a unique cinematic quality, stripping back the dialogue and cranking up the action. It traverses a bleak, frozen landscape of shattered castles and pillaged towns, rendering the interior world that clouds Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s addled minds, as they sink deeper into their heart of darkness. A timeless masterpiece of war, ambition, betrayal, murder and ultimately, revenge.

A teaser trailer for the film has been released by the film’s Twitter:

The Kickstarter page includes an informational video which features a quick interview with Rupert and other crew members:
