Pottermore FAQs Updated | Time Frame for Day 4 Revealed
Posted by Megs

The Pottermore Insider Blog has been updated with some more frequently asked questions about the Magical Quill Challenge.  They also reveal that the clue for August 3rd will be released between 2pm and 6pm BST (or 9am – 1pm EST). Some of the new FAQs are as follows:

I have seen people offering to register early access accounts for others. Is it safe to give my personal details to someone who is offering this service?
Absolutely not. You should never share personal details online unless you are certain how they will be used and protected. Also, please note that the transfer of Pottermore accounts is expressly prohibited in The Magical Quill promotion Terms & Conditions.

Once I’ve clicked on the link in my registration validation email, will I be able to access Pottermore?
We will not be enabling early access to the site straight away. Once The Magical Quill challenge is over we will begin to send Beta registrants Welcome emails as and when they will be able to have full access to the site. We won’t be able to let everyone into the Beta site at the same time, so you may have to wait a number of weeks for your Welcome email to arrive. However, if you have been successful in registering during The Magical Quill challenge, we can confirm you will gain access ahead of the site opening to all in October, so please be patient!

Is there any update on the Yahoo! Mail issue?
This has now been resolved and everyone who registered with a Yahoo! Mail account on Sunday or Monday should now have received their validation email.

Pottermore Day 3 Registration [Closed]
Posted by Megs

The Prisoner of Azkaban clue is up on the Pottermore site for Day 3 registration! So hurry up and run over to the site to grab your spot!!!

For future reference the clue was posted exactly at  6EST. The day 1 clue was posted at 4am EST, and day 2 at 5am EST, so I sense a pattern. But they could throw a curveball and post it at a totally random time tomorrow.

Who else was crazy and woke up at an ungodly hour to try and get their spot? I woke up at 4am EST.

UPDATE: Spaces are now full, for those who weren’t awake the clue was “In the Gryffindor versus Slytherin Quidditch match, in Harry’s third year, how many points is Gryffindor leading by before Harry catches the Golden Snitch?  Multiply this number by 35.”

P.S. My username is JinxWitch26

Pottermore Insider Blog Updated; Time Frame for Clue 3 Given
Posted by Megs

The Pottermore Insider blog has been updated to answer some more frequently asked questions. Fans will be most excited to learn that they have revealed a time frame for the third clue release. It is not an exact time, but that is better than nothing so you don’t have to stay up all night. The clue will be released between 9am BST (4am EST) and 1pm BST (8am EST).

Another question that may be of interest to fans is the following about selling/buying Pottermore accounts:

I have seen Pottermore early access accounts being sold online on places like eBay. Is it okay to buy or sell Pottermore accounts?
No. Please do not buy, sell, or transfer Pottermore early access accounts. Obtaining Beta registration for Pottermore with the intent of selling on those registration details for monetary gain not only deprives genuine fans the chance to gain early access, it is also expressly prohibited in The Magical Quill promotion Terms & Conditions.

We have the right to terminate any Pottermore accounts that are sold online.

Access to Pottermore is, and always will be, completely free so please don’t be tempted by people selling Pottermore accounts online. You will only be wasting your money – and there are still more clues and chances to come!

Finally, for non-English fans this question may be of help for some remaining clues:

Did some of the translations of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone contain a different answer to the first clue?
Yes, some of the translations only referred to four of the five owl types when describing the Eeylops sign. We are double-checking the consistency of the translations for the remaining clues but, when in doubt, please always refer to the original English versions of J.K. Rowling’s books.

The rest of the FAQs may be read at the Pottermore blog.

Pottermore Day 2 Registration Closed
Posted by Megs

Day 1 of Pottermore’s pre-registration is closed. The clue for today was from Chamber of Secrets and was: “What is the number of the chapter in which Professor McGonagall cancels the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. Multiply this number by 42.”

Tomorrow’s clue will be related to Prisoner of Azkaban and once again the time the clue will be revealed is a secret.  I assume that Pottermore will spread out the release of the clues so people all around the world will have a chance. (I have been sleeping both times the clue was released…grr)

Day 1 of Pottermore’s pre-registration is closed. The clue for today was from Sorcerer’s Stone and was: “How many breeds of owl are featured on the Eeylops Emporium sign? Multiply this number by 49.” Tomorrow’s clue will be released at a different time and will be a question that comes from Chamber of Secrets.

Please note that we will not be enabling early access to the site straight away. Once The Magical Quill challenge is over, we will send successful early access registrants a Welcome email, letting them know when they will be able to access Pottermore. We won’t be able to let everyone into the Beta site at the same time; you may have to wait a few weeks for your Welcome email to arrive.
